At the end of AC3 he dies, and Abstergo Industries salvages his body. They harvest his DNA for genetic memories and send other people into his memories, including the new player, who is one of those silent-protagonist types.

I remember him dying, but somebody told me there were alternate endings. And AC4 is about another assassin related to Connor from 3 (assuming from the same last name). So then who is revisiting the dna sequences in 4?
