Wow that is absolutely stunning! I love how the feathers and wings move well and that it's a loop! The moving clouds gave it the feeling of movement yet I think that the clouds themselves didn't quite suit the style of the bird...all in all, a great piece!

I've never animated anything flying, so I'm not certain of the mechanics, however, I feel like most of the corvids (crows/ravens, etc) have a faster wingbeat. But that could be achieved pretty easily by increasing the frame speed. For critiquing this version might be better, because we can see more detail in the wings as they move.

I think the critique is a little harsh. But the critic has certainly looked very carefully!
I think that the whole point of an animation is that it should not be completely real. Therefore simplifying colours and doing something unrealistic with the movement could be what makes the animation interesting.

Hello! I found this on the critiques page and thought I'd make a few suggestions.
Overall, the animation is very good. The character is consistent and well-drawn, and the background moves at a steady pace.
However, the animation seems a little bit shaky as the bird moves around. If you're in a program where you can modify the frames per second (or the length of time the frame is shown), I'd suggest making it at least 12 fps, if not more. Adding more in-between frames would also smooth the motion out.
Also, when birds are flying forward, the wings do not just move up and down. On the down-stroke, the bird will pull the wing (fully extended) back to push itself forward, then fold it and re-extend it upwards - it's kind of a circular motion. You have some of that circular motion, it just needs a little more emphasis on that push.
It's been a while since I've had to do anything with animation, but I hope this helps!

It's not bad for the first. I'll suggest adding some ease in/ease out at its down flap, though. A couple of frames before and after should do the trick.

Perhaps the wing movements are too fast, or the body doesn't 'bounce'. (when the wings move down, the body moves up a bit. When wings go up, body moves down a bit) I also took notice of the feathers curving in one of the frames. I think that it was too great of a curve for that. I believe you should gently ease into a curve of the feathers. So, you should start the curve when the wings are in line with the body, or a little before that. Nothing else is very noticeable, anatomy is spot on, and you did a very good job on the background!
