Personality/Background:

Inkwell is easiest described as grumpmeister nr 1. He seldom smiles, he’s rude, reclusive and many see him as simply being too full of his stupid titled self to socialize with any “normal” ponies. This is understandable considering that he constantly acts like an ass. A conclusion like that does seem rather fitting, but they couldn’t be further from the truth.
In reality Inkwell is extremely insecure about himself and every day he battles with his own self-doubt and worries about not living up to his family’s legacy of great magicians. He is very emotional yet hides it well from other ponies. He overthinks everything, everything, and it leaves him very socially crippled as he can never manage to say something before having processed it five times, and even then the things he says usually isn’t very nice. Not that this is something that anyone would notice on him while he speaks.
He does occasionally crack down and just cries over what a miserable failure he sees himself to be and how he is afraid that he won’t accomplish anything even half-decent. But even this he hides from his parents.
He feels like he isn’t living up to his true potential and inner self. What he doesn’t quite realize himself though is that all he really wants is to accomplish something great, although only time will tell what or how.
Inkwell is the first earth pony in Twilight Sparkle’s family line and desperately feels misplaced because of it, his mother being an alicorn and the element of magic and all. Inkwell wishes so badly to be a unicorn that he got himself fitted with a custom made horn prosthetic that he adorns with royal jewelry. He never leaves the castle without it, hoping to keep up the illusion. He even wears it inside the castle until Twilight asks him politely to please take it off.
His quest for unicorn powers has made him delve into the restricted parts of the Canterlot libraries to uncover controversial and banned magical practices in order to give himself the power he wishes for.
Twilight doesn’t know any of her son’s rather worrying research, and only thinks that he is much like her and just enjoys spending the days reading.
His relationship to his parents is extremely tense. Inkwell has pushed Twilight away from him in fear of never feeling adequate enough, and he blames his father for bringing the earth pony genes into his blood. It also didn’t help that his parents split up and that his mother found a new mare that she even married.
Inkwell has no respect for his step mother. Even though he blames Flash for a lot of things he still loves him deep inside, but Starlight he has nothing but loathing for. He despises the fact that Starlight is trying to relate between them and that he implies that they might not be too different. However Inkwell feels that there is no one who could possibly understand how he truly feels.

At the same time he desperately wishes that someone could understand, and that he would just be able to explain everything he has bottled up inside. But to be honest, not even he knows half of where all the confusingly sad feelings comes from.
The only pony he does have to confide in is his cousin Pearl. He never tells her the whole truth about anything he does as he is also really ashamed about how he feels, but he still really enjoy talking to her. Her point of views on life is not the same as his yet her liveliness and need for freedom sometimes manages to rub off on him as he agrees to follow her on insane and overly complicated adventurous plans around the capitals.

Iv'e started to realize how i'm taking bits and pieces of my own personality and putting them in these poor characters. As I was making this guy i got really, really sad again for no real aparent reason. It might be that my pills had perhaps started wearing of, but for some reason I couldn't stop crying. I'm sorry that you got stuck with the worst one Ikky, I'll make it up to you.
