You need to spill it - how are getting such great shots? How do you process your images? Come on - inquiring minds want to know... When I grow up, I want to take great pictures too! lol

Ok here I am spilling it: Super macro and vivid colors setting, cropped in PS CS3 adjusted curves and added border.

I have just downloaded a trial version of CS3 - I love it, but the Bridge keeps crashing... you have that problem? Hope it's not my computer because I just rebuilt the whole thing!! grrrrr I want a Mac!
Anyway - great photography!

No, I don't have that problem. My computer at work does that if I have too many programs running. Wish I could help.
P.S. Love your signature!

I may put a question about it in my next journal, but I'm starting to think the problem is my computer's amount of memory and the fact that I use Norton 360...
Glad you like my signature

Could be, Norton seems to create a lot trouble. I hope you can fix it soon. How do you like PS CS3? I love that new selection tool. It is so much easier to select certain areas.

So far it is quite a love affair - I have only dabbled with the new selection tool (read many tut's and articles tho) but I have been so enthralled with the new bridge that I haven't gotten past that. I have 23 days left on my trial download, but I will decide much sooner than that. My son is in an advanced computer class and he will need some version PS soon - and it should be the most current. We can get a student discount, so I'm assuming we will purchase it. My real problem is my computer's capacity to handle the memory needs of CS3, but I'm sure my son and I can fix that.
So - is the selection tool your favorite upgrade? It's nice to have someone to talk to about this. Are you a member of NAPP?

Violet-Kleinert In reply to now-voyager [2007-08-13 03:35:12 +0000 UTC]
I don't use the bridge much! To select my photos I use: right click with the mouse/Open with/Adobe PS CS3. I find it easier, the view of images through the bridge are too small. Or maybe I am not using it right. The selection is not my only favorite update, I like the window customization. Not a member of NAPP but after our talk last time I a considering it. I learned a lot on my own, but I want to learn more about digital painting and drawing in PS. I love the fact that I can talk to you about it.

I am pleased to have someone to chat with about this too. I really love being a NAPP member - the Photoshop User mag is wonderful and all the tuts are so helpful. Did you get a chance to check out iTunes podcasts? I know you'd love 'em.
I have dabbled in manips - "The Encounter" [link] being the only one I've posted here (or anywhere) and I've seen some outrageously great work. I am inspired to learn more about painting, etc but I do not have enough time for all the things I want to do.
Do you paint too (with brushes and canvas...)?

I like your photomanip. It is great. From the ones I did I like [link] the most. I only post work on DA. I am in the same position as you are, not enough time to do all the stuff I want. I don't paint, but I would love too. I have an inclination towards drawing but I hate the way my scanner scans, so I still have to work on it in PS, here is a poor attempt that I posted [link] .

Wow - nice work. Would you send me the links to the 3 photos you combined to make the lighthouse picture - that is a nice piece of workmanship. And the painting - I don't even know how those are done. How did you make, "Another World?" Very nice.
If I made a living doing anything in the art world I will have died and gone to heaven! I just find it hard to promote myself, but I get compliments all the time. I even have a place here that wants to hang my work... but I never follow up. No self confidence.

Violet-Kleinert In reply to now-voyager [2007-08-14 04:57:16 +0000 UTC]
I did not post those shots in my gallery because they were not too good. But parts of them together is another story. The sky is one shot, rocks is the second photo, and the the lighthouse (which I stretched ), I have a shot of the top of it in my gallery [link] . I started with the sky, rocks layer 1, lighthouse layer 2. Another World was done by drawing the girl on one of my moon photos and I used soft brushes to give it a painting like look.
I do not promote myself at all, at least for now. If I could make a living doing this, I would be happy. Earning a living in an office leaves very little time to promote my artistic desires. For now it is my stress release, I can't do without my art. I do cards for my family and friends.
If I had someone who would like to hang my art, I would go for it! Do it! You are very talented!

We have a lot in common. Someday I'll have enough time to actually get out there and work it like a person should.
I really like the manip.

Great detail and focus in this shot! I am looking to buy a new camera in the next few days, and the Powershot S5 is one that I am looking at. This picture has helped a lot in showing me the macro capabilities of this line!

Thank you. I can't complain much about my Canon Powershot, it is a good camera. Great for landscape shots too.
