This is so cute! Rice heating pads are the best. I should make one of these for my grandma because she is always cold during the winter.

How long does the rice keep it's heat?

VioletLeBeaux In reply to Kohanechan [2012-09-11 03:10:58 +0000 UTC]

Depends how big you make the handwarmer and how much rice you put in. The size I made lasts around 20 minutes. Bigger sizes last much longer

How long will this last? *O* cooked rice? O_O srsly?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

VioletLeBeaux In reply to Mhiemi [2012-08-23 02:18:25 +0000 UTC]

No it's uncooked rice, you microwave the dry rice to make it warm. It will last as long as uncooked rice will, it depends where you store it and the climate you live in. In humid places it wouldn't last long. Make sure not to get wet!

Does the rice work as well as flax seed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

VioletLeBeaux In reply to little-eekie [2012-01-31 06:59:40 +0000 UTC]

I haven't tried with flax seed as I wouldn't know where to buy it loose but this seems to work as well as my store bought heat packs roughly the same size.

Looks lovely! How many times can i use it before the rice starts smelling unpleasant? :<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

VioletLeBeaux In reply to Milena-Zaremba [2012-01-31 07:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Not sure! I've only used mine a few times to test it as it's the middle of Summer here in Aus, I imagine it wouldn't smell though unless it was over cooked. You could also add a bit of scented perfume to make it more pleasant ^_^

Milena-Zaremba In reply to VioletLeBeaux [2012-01-31 22:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Great idea with the perfume. I guess I'll test it as the weather in Poland is totally the opposite to what you have in Australia. The weather forecast is -30 Celcius degrees for Friday night. Mother of God D:

Waaa I wish it was that cold here, it really is complete oposites and Melbourne weather is so fickle, yesterday 35 Celcius tomorrow only 20 *_* I hope it warms up for you soon!!

Why, I love winter C: It's my favourite season, to be honest. Not only the world is beautiful but all the pleasant things are related to winter - my B-day, my BF's B-day, Valentine's Day, we have also got together in winter. Not to mention snowball fights and the Boxing Day ;D

Oooo snowball fights! I've only ever been in one while I was holidaying in England!

Does it ever snow in Australia then?

VioletLeBeaux In reply to Milena-Zaremba [2012-02-05 10:14:03 +0000 UTC]

It didn't where I grew up, I think there's snow around 3 hours outside of where I live now though in the mountains.
