(An update to an older SMG )Overview:
Another invention by Herrick Stumna, the Stumna Machine-Pistol model 1977 is a compact sub-machine gun made for vehicle crews, artillery units, aviation crewmen, and backline units that otherwise would not want the bulkier STK-72 carbine.
The STMP-77 is a response to the development of armor-piercing PDW's in much of the Western world. However, the 10x26mm cartridge was deemed sufficent for armor-penetration, with the 10P6N armor-piercing cartridge being developed in conjunction with the STMP-77. Being able to penetrate up to level IIIA armor plate and defeat most soft-armor.
While the STK-72 is preferred for most military operatiins, with the carbine having superior ballistics and power, it still remains much larger than the STMP-72, which can be fit into a holster when used with a flush magazine.
It is also much lighter than the STK-72, making it preferred for units that routinely handle heavy weights or need to move rapidly, such as special forces or logistical and artillery units.
