Some sort of magical-mana-energy-liquid-thing. The idea was a very powerful mage is performing a summoning at the top of the highest tower in the distance and he is harvesting the power to do so from the "magical-energy-rift"

I like it. There's a very definite progression from the rift in the foreground to the structure in the back, from bottom to top as well. The yellow-brown of the grass and blue of the magic, being the two strongest colors in the image, compliment each other well.
Experiment successful, IMO.
