Description
This 18-second exposure was taken head-on into 40-50mph wind gusts. It was the only usable photo after approximately 2 hours of attempts. I shot this while leaning against my car, willing my muscles not to cramp.Finished 5th place in "The Power of Nature" [link] photo contest hosted by

Edit 2: I was having a problem with clipping in the shadows due to the grain removal, so I reverted back to the original state. Title/copyright is the only change from the original image.

yea we have some crazy weather sometimes .. but where i livenothing interesting has really happened .. only a tornado spout that never reached the groud, so did damage x]

Fine result! I can understand the nearly hopeless task of enduring the power of nature while concentrating upon the precise capture of a hand-held long exposure; even mosquitos grant no mercy (I think they are drawn to the smell of concentration).

Thanks!! I've tried a couple more times since that night, and I can't get anything even close. There was some great lightning tonight, but I only ended up with wet clothes from the rain >.< lol

Just realised the awesome effect from the electric poles (or what's that in english asd) - puts the picture in perspective and the clouds, with their shadows, look huge! And the lightning.. mmm!
