Description
A portrait of Cornflake, my young Pyle Dutch Bantam cockerel. He's a work of art in himself!
(Edit - I should add that although you can't tell, he is a true "bonsai" - he is just five inches tall!)

Cornflake is very cute, looks just like my young Mr. Peeps! Hes a pyle rooster banty too! Due to worms that kept his growth very VERY slow, hes a bit less attractive but hes still hansom. I got him a pyle hen named Digger (friggin hen cant stop DIGGIN HOLES!) and shes the only hen he mates with, hangs with, eats with, and is totally in love with. Ill be sure to post a pic of them in response to your Cornflake!

He's lovely a lot prettier than my pet rooster (but I think he's great anyway). I don't know what breed mine is though.

I had a look at the photos of your cockerel, (lovely pictures, by the way!) and he's a Silver Sussex. Quite a rare variety, and very beautiful. If you get this month's issue of Practical Poultry Magazine there is an article about rare breeds which includes a photo of Silver Sussex - well worth reading!

Thanks! I'll see if I can have a look at that magazine. A friend told us that he looked as if he was a rare breed, but didn't know exactly what he was.

Yay, dutch bantam! I used to breed them but only have a few of them now, I never had one of this colour though. Love your huskies too.

I'm glad you like him....He doesn't realise how small he is - Sandwich is scared stiff of him, and he's four times the size!
We are odd people, aren't we - sitting at this time of night looking at photos of chickens......

heheh, nothing odd about it. i for one am nocturnal, and i like pics of chickens.
i know what you mean about them not realising they were small. i know a silky bantam that bullies a full size speckled sussex cockerel

Simply amazing bird. Very nice compsition and near perfect lighting makes this photo a small masterpiece. The green color of the grass is also makes a nice contrast, maybe you should have had more of it though?

You are quite right - he looks much better against a green background. I will certainly try to get a shot of him on the lawn as that will give me the best contrast. He's not the easiest creature to get a good picture of - mainly because although he isn't scared of me, he's not that tame either, so he won't go where I suggest and then stand still!
Thank you so much for the compliments!

He is remarkable - they are an amazing breed. I have six eggs from the Silver variety in my incubator at the moment and I have everythign crossed that they hatch - the Pyle is my favourite colour, but the Silver come a close second - jet black with grey markings and a white mane and saddle - really eyecatching and very easy to keep, as they don't need much space and aren't aggressive.
