I love shows that challenge me to go outside my box. I had no idea how fun it could be to draw braids, roses, ribbons, and stuff! I got a chance to play around with rim lighting and back lighting also. I have to admit, I was a little worried at first but I ended up having a lot of fun.

"I've almost got it!" Said Grace as she was finishing the last braid in her horse's mane. Grace and her husband David were preparing their horse Dove for a show. They had gotten together food, clothes, and supplies for the show tomorrow. All that was left was taking care of their Dove's grooming. "There! How does this look?" Grace asked, looking over to David for his approval. "Give me one second." David replied, placing a heavy bale of hay inside the trailer and glancing back over their checklist. He nodded, seeing how they mostly had everything and was finally able to direct his attention to his wife.

Raising his head to look at their horse's mane he was shocked at how horrible it looked. Widening his eyes, he looked at Dove's mane trying to make sense of what his eyes were resting on. "Whoa! I thought you said we were going to go with a flowing braid?" David asked, trying his best not to let her hear the disbelief in his voice. "I did. That's what this is." Grace firmly replied. David hesitated to reply as he tried to hold back a laugh. "Not trying to sound rude but, that does 'not' look like a running braid...Here let me." David insisted, placing the checklist down and walking over to them. When he got up to their horse, David took hold of a piece of Dove's mane.

Parting strands of the mane he started braiding. Seeing that it wasn't turning out the way he expected, he froze for a while. Seeing how he stopped moving made Grace question her husband's ability. She tilted her head to the side waiting for him to continue. "So...Do you know how to do a flowing braid?" Asked Grace "Uh, well...I've braided horse's manes before. All I have to do is make one large braid...Just... Sideways?" David not so confidently replied. "I'll be right back. I have to go look for something." Grace said, remembering a book she wrote that could help them. Not feeling to confident in her husband's abilities, she went to go and look for it.

Walking back towards her house, she tried to think back on where she had put that book. Grace had to make a running braid in one of her horse's manes years before. Seeing how tricky it was she decided to write down instructions on braids, especially running braids. Unfortunately it had been a long time since she needed to use any type of braid. She didn't have a need for the book so she hadn't seen it in a while.

Going inside of the house Grace went straight to the bookshelf. She knew that's where she'd place an item like that. Grace  moved books out of the way and kept her eyes peeled for a small book. To her surprise it wasn't there. After a few minutes of searching, she couldn't find it. 'If it's not where it's supposed to be it maybe somewhere where it isn't supposed to be.' She thought to herself. She began looking behind objects and the little booklet she was looking for, containing the instructions was hidden behind a desk. She stretched her arm in between the crack and was able to retrieve it.

She headed back to her horse hoping the damage her husband must have done to Dove was reversible. Upon entering the stall she was welcomed with quite a sight to behold. "Ta-da!" She heard David say. Looking in the direction of the voice, she saw a horse with a messy mane and a man standing beside it with his hands out presenting his work as if he was proud of it. She didn't think he could make it look worse then her's was at the time but she was proven wrong. "Well, ignore those free strands over there. It's an easy clean up but uh, what do you think?" David asked "Well, let's just say that I'm really glad I found this book in time. Would you try to follow my instructions as I read them to you?" Grace said showing him the book. "What is this?" Asked David when saw it. "They're instructions on how to make running Braids." She replied. "How are you supposed to find out how to braid with that?! I don't see any pictures in it." David said sifting through the small pages. "I wrote it in enough detail for me to be able to understand."

What should have taken a few minutes ended up taking a lot longer then it needed to. "Wait, did you say grab the previous strand and pull it into the big one, or bend it over of this?" David asked trying his best to understand the instructions that was read to him. Grace put down the book and placed her face into her palm. "Here um, why don't you read the book and I do the braiding?" She asked growing tired of repeating step 3 when they had 10 to go. "I think that's a good idea."He replied, giving the parted piece of mane to his wife. He took the book from her and sifted to page 1.  Within a few minutes Dove's mane was finally finished and looking good. They read on to another part of the book and was able to successfully style her tail as well.

As they walked back to the house Grace and David went over the ordeal. "Ah, that mane looks a whole lot better than when I first saw her." David said thinking back when his wife gave it a try on her own. "What? You're the one who had her mane in a loop. How did you end up doing that anyway? You said that you've braided a horse's mane before?" Grace asked lifting an eyebrow in suspicion. "Well yeah, but I never said I was any good at it." David replied. Grace smiled as she rolled her eyes. They entered into the house and they headed off to get some sleep.

When it was finally day, Grace and David arrived at the show. After a few minutes of preparation, Grace entered into the arena with Dove. During the halter show Dove did pretty well. When it was over Grace lead her horse out of the arena. She stopped for a while to talk to her husband about how well Dove did and how much fun it was for her when they were braiding her mane. "It may have been fun for you but it was tons of trouble for me. Hopefully we won't have to do that again eh?" David asked waiting for her reply. A beautiful horse with a daimond braided mane passed by. Tracking her eyes he saw what she was looking at. "I wonder if we can do diamond braids?" David lost his smile and placed his face into his palm. He knew it meant that they had to go through the ordeal again.
