Description
doodle for 27 febThis weekend seems to be all about finding awesome videos online. I was going to let my boys watch Netflix on my Ubuntu PC only to realize that they don't all anything other then Windows and Mac. Bummer, but that sent me to see what Hulu had to offer and I found that they have the entire Big Guy and Rusty series available. I used to love watching that show 10 years ago, so I was giddy like a little child.

Did you make the graphic in Ubuntu?
the problem with Netflix is that their watch online service is using Microsoft DRM called PlayForSure and the programmers behind the Ubuntu version of Silverlight (called Moonlight) refuse to reverse engineer the DRM so as not to upset their relationship with Microsoft.
We're pretty much screwed over.

actually, this was just a sigma brush pen on paper. i'm not sure why i tagged it ubuntu now that i think about it?
I don't see why if they have a Silverlight for OS X they can't take the time to port that to different *nix flavors?

Microsoft know that OSX isn't a threat, Apple is a hardware company.
FDOs on the other hand are a huge threat. Why feed the features of your worst nightmare?
* FDO = FreeDesktop.org, any desktop that's compliant to the standards therein.

too bad they couldn't just all get along, embrace open standards, and let their products compete on their own merits... that's totally anti-capitalism i suppose?

Free markets are obviously too scary for a lot of our companies today.
