This was done in 2008 with Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Graphire 4 (I've upgraded since hehe!) There was reference involved for the pose of horse and for Altair's costume.

Your perspective is perfect, shading perfect, foreshortning on the horse...perfect. However the foreshortning on the legs of altair is completely off i'm afraid :/ still, good work!

Am i allowed to give advice at all? Dont like doing that without permission. Either way i love this. The shadowing alone is wonderful, especially upon the horses muscles.

You may go ahead, even though that painting is from early 2008 so I can see a lot of things I would do differently if it were to be done again! For instance the background's details are not up to par with the time I put into the horse and rider, there are many light problems, texture issues, and finally the image could use a softer focus.... Anything else? ^^

Honestly I think the image holds itself together very well! The only thing that strikes me as off would be his face. Honestly It could be his angle and i'm just not used to it...it just seems large or off center. Either way far better than any of my works.
