Description I put it up on my tumblr but figured I might as well post it here since several people have asked about it. (A birthday present from me to you)

There aren't any instructions but it's basically a cube so it's pretty easy to figure out.

Some notes:

"2, 1R" means to cut two pieces, one mirror-imaged. Same with 4, 2R.

The arrow shows the direction the pile should be going, if you use fabric with a pile (minky, velvet, faux fur, velour, etc). For a smooth fabric like fleece or felt, you don't need to worry about them.

If you're making a unicorn, you cut the face piece with the horn included, and one extra horn pieces, sew the horn parts together right sades facing, turn the horn and then fold down so it's on the inside of the body as you're sewing it - it will be on the outside when you turn it.

For a pegasus, sew all around the wings then make a small slit on one side of the wing to turn it right side out. Make sure you have a right and left wing, and sew them to the body with a ladder stitch, hiding the turning opening against the body. The lines are a guide to make long stitches to define the feathers.

Stuffing it with plastic "beanie" pellets will give it a nice heft.

Here's the one I made: [link]
I used minky for the body and scraps of long pile faux fur for the mane and tail.

You could also modify the shape of the ears and tail and face details to make this into all sorts of different animals.

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to LokittyL [2014-01-05 08:01:45 +0000 UTC]

Minky is nice to the touch, but a bit expensive. If you're getting fabric at a brick and mortar store, I'd go for robe velour or fleece.Β

Hi!
I'm a beginner at making things like this, but this looked pretty easy so I gave it a try.
It was a nightmare and mine ended up all lumpy and messy, and I just don't know what went wrong!(I used a sewing machine btw)
Do you think you could add a how-to for this? I need to make two before Christmas and I don't want another disaster

What type of fabric did you use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AlyssumMay In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2013-12-22 01:45:15 +0000 UTC]

I used some regular cotton fabric(not really sure exactly what kind lol) I would've used fleece, but it was just the prototype.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to AlyssumMay [2013-12-26 07:58:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah cotton fabric won't look really good because it doesn't stretch.Β

how do you sew the belly on so the seam doesnt show? I know to flip it inside out, but how would i stitch the the belly and the back pieces to make the feet correctly? :/

You use a ladder stitch - there's a great video on how to do it:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHWD1q…

Nope, no seam allowance. I find it easier not to include it in case people want to resize it.Β
