Just a quick colored-in sketch of two characters from a fanfic idea I've been playing with - because every show needs a beach episode, right? Also ghost pirates, a surfing competition, and ponies in swimsuits.Sea ponies may or may not be involved.
FYI an offshore flow refers to the turbulent water of a wave that has crashed onto the sand and is rushing back to sea, and a tidal eddy is a whirlpool or vortex caused by the tides.

Interesting! I actually have a bunch of characters I came up with for a story that I just haven't had time yet to sit down and write - they all live on an island called La Mare del Mar, a kitschy tourist trap built on the ruins of what used to be a pirate getaway. Basically me throwing every "beach episode" cliche in a melting pot, plus I wanted to introduce sea ponies and the ocean-ruling sister of Luna and Celestia. I'd love to bounce ideas off another writer, but I will admit I've never RP'd and don't really know how

RPing is new to me as well, and actually, I've found that it helps me write! Having to throw your character in with other characters and having them react to the antics of others really brings out parts of them you never knew were there. For example, if it weren't for Razor Wing, my character, Clockwork Clover, wouldn't be so cautious around stallions. If it weren't for Java Bean, Candy Gear wouldn't have such an unexpected reaction to caffeine.
Your ideas sound REALLY cool! As for the ruler of the sea, I found it a nice idea to be more constellation-y... a King Capricorn, for example. Also, we should see if we can share a common canon!
