For those of you who never read the Animorphs books, Yeerks are highly intelligent little slug like aliens who crawl into your ear, bore into your skull, attach to your brain, and take over your body and rifle through your thoughts/memories while your conscious mind is awake and screaming internally for control back. You can't tell who's a Yeerk Controller. They act like their host would any day. HOWEVER, there are some Yeerks who are against the invasion and work with their willing human controller to fight in the resistance. In which case, they form a very close bond and human controllers report even feeling empty without their Yeerk in their head. I'm pretty dang sure this concept is what got me into parasitic/commansal endo/vore. XD Would I let one of these squishy lil vulnerable alien invaders live in my brain? If he or she was a friendly Yeerk, hecky to the yes! <3 (Don't worry, they don't harm the host, they secrete a natural painkiller and healing substance.)
One of my favorite books in the series was actually about two Yeerks like this who helped the Animorphs out.

I'm officially declaring myself an Animorph. That's been my dream since like, 3rd grade. For serious, people.

Did I also mention that without a controller (which can be almost any species of alien) they are blind and deaf? So I think it's pretty dang adorable that you could give them the experience of sight and sound and taste through you. Not to mention a place to live while they're away from the Kandrona pools (have to leave their controller and "recharge" every 3 days)
