Description
This is Merall, a female Toa of Stone. She is one of the main characters in my comic series and this is her appearance in the series' final installment, Elegy.
I worked with different techniques on her build; I tried to give her the look of a bulky warrior and yet save her female body shape. I also put a lot of work into color layering this time.
Edit: Uploaded a fixed version of the image without the line.

Still trying to work out what use a Toa of Stone would have for a Kaukau, but meh.
Maybe if it was the first-gen version, that visor would be handy in a sandstorm...
But that's the thing about MOCs. You work with what you have.

Apart from her wearing the mask because of the way my comic is made, I think it's much more useful for a Toa of Stone to have the ability to breath underwater than for a Toa of Water (who can do that anyway).

Okay. What's so special about it that you must have it? Do you want to use it for another -sian of yours?

She's beautiful. Obviously, I would have a put on a kakama, but still, very well-done.Β

Thanks! She has kind of a backstory with two whole comic installments, so her mask is something that just had to be this way

Very nice and classy concept! A reduced use of HF-parts and using standard parts for legs and weapons bring out the nice details a lot more.
Nice silhouette, it looks like you carefully picked out every part you used here.
Can't really complain about anything, maybe the blending form the waist to the chest is a little too straight, but maybe that fits better with the theme of a bulky stone toa warrioress Β

We did need a female Toa of Stone. On the Bionicle wiki it said that every Stone Toa and Matoran were male..

It said the same about the all-female Matoran of Psionics, and what happened? We got a male Toa of Psionics, Orde.
Things can change! And additionally I never make the genders how the canon wants it

Erm... What are Toa of Psionics?

Ah, I see. I don't really see the point arguing over canon correctness if you don't know more about Bionicle than the sets.
But I'll explain it to you: Toa of Psionics, or Matoran, are an additional all-female (except Orde) race which was introduced in the Expanded Universe. Like their name already tells you; they are able to control the element of psionics to their will.
There have been two important Toa of Psionics so far, one named Varian, a female Toa who once helped Toa Norik on his quest. The other one was the male Toa I mentioned earlier, Orde, who first appeared in a story that was written after the end of the Bionicle toyline series.

Oh, I see. Yeah I was interested in the stories behind the sets, but other than that I didn't bother much

Simple in some parts, but the colour and shaping are excellent.Β

Like the shaping and look very much. Not so much the techniques, but you pulled them off well enough. Nicely done.

I don't like too much the upper arms, they look really skinny near the shoulders. Maybe some tyres...Β
Anyways, aside that small detail, love what you did with Merall. Was one of my favourite character from the series, and I glad to see her so cool after a 'revamp'. Love the upper legs the most <3 Great work, dear!

A tire sadly doesn't exist in dark gray to keep her color sheme and other than that... Everything I tried let the arms stick out to the side which looked pretty ridiculous.Β
But I'm glad you liked her new form! You are one of the many people I had to impress with this fan-favorite

Yeah, to be honest, I have been thinking about some designs to improve that and I didn't come up with anything particulary improving... Brown tubes or rubber bands didn't seem to work pretty well either *sigh* Hmm... What about using some of these connected by a x3 bar?Β www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPβ¦
And I'm glad to read those words! I feel pretty honored, thanks dear <3

These pieces would be useful if they came the other way around (holes and axle slots switched) because this way it is blocked in the lower area...
Huh? What did I do to make you feel honored?
π: 1 β©: 1
GoldenArpeggio In reply to Vorred [2013-12-06 22:38:13 +0000 UTC]
No no, dear! You can use them by using a 3-long grey cross-shaped rod. Though then maybe that way it could complicate the movement of the shoulder...
I'm always honored when someone keeps me in mind. Don't mind if it's only trying to impress me in a second thought or if it's pure love xD
