Description Prolonged bombardment by the Axiomatic submarines prowling the massive underground lakes, reservoirs and pipelines of Addas has left the air forces of the Union largely gounded, incapable of establishing new positions large enough to launch heavy strike bombers and air superiority fighters, leaving the defenders at the mercy of APP air support. However, against all odds and taking advantage of the enormous plumes of smoke from burning cities that have almost completely obscured the sky over the battlefield, Javelin gunships manage to fly through enemy air defense and drop nuclear devices on the Omanskaya airfield and its nearby support installations. With neither side being able to call upon its heavy air support now, the battle for this industrial province will be decided only by grisly ground combat.

Quadriplegic wings?

The wings are backwards, but I'm just joking around, looks nice though

The shape of the mushroom and shockwave almost look organic - something that "grew" instead of being made of masses of air in motion. The reddish hue adds to the feeling of a living, pulsating thing. Nice composition!

Thanks for the feedback, that's an aspect of it I actually hadn't noticed, haha, but I can certainly see it

Food for thought- a mushroom cloud is essentially a doughnut of fire rising up, the perspective it's in is what you'd see on the ground rather than in the air (the top of the ring is pointing away from the viewer but should be towards)
Also a well formed mushroom cloud occurs at a much greater scale- from what the buildings indicate the cloud isn't much bigger than a conventional bomb explosion (nor does the shockwave seem "supported" by the cloud)

Other than that, great use of tilted perspective and the lighting really creates a powerful mood.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, I knew something looked a bit off with the mushroom cloud but couldn't put a finger on it, now it all makes sense. You're right about the yield as well, by the size of the shockwave it should be around 5kt but I couldn't find any images of a blast that size, I think the one I used as reference was 15kt

The burning city in the background gives a very ominous feeling. The crimson nuke certainly adds to the apocalyptic atmosphereΒ .Β

How'd I do?

Er, GAU-19 not 12

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

678091 In reply to VoughtVindicator [2018-12-30 04:59:53 +0000 UTC]

Gau 19 is .50 cal, Gau 12 is 25mm and Gau 8 (which is what this one looks like) is 30mm

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VoughtVindicator In reply to 678091 [2018-12-30 13:06:45 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't really look like a GAU-8, more like a bigger GAU-19

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

678091 In reply to VoughtVindicator [2019-01-10 06:06:25 +0000 UTC]

But a Gau-19 only has 3 barrels and its a .50 cal not a 25mm

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VoughtVindicator In reply to 678091 [2019-01-16 15:12:40 +0000 UTC]

It's supposed to be an upscaled GAU-19 chambered in 30 or 35mm, I like the look of the triple barrels and barrel shroud.

You pretty much got everything right, though the gun is based on an upscaled GAU-12. Shock cones are based on Mirage.Β

Hmm. Looks like it's got the main body of a Harrier, only with the wings flipped...
The cockpit looks set up like an Mi-24...
And the refueling probes (two of them?) remind me of an M-2000C.

Anytime!

I just checked your galley; you wouldn't happen to have tutorial/unveiling of how you do your coloring, would you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VoughtVindicator In reply to Rafael-Domination [2018-01-26 13:05:38 +0000 UTC]

Not really, mostly because I don't have a standard way of coloring

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rafael-Domination In reply to VoughtVindicator [2018-01-28 07:25:51 +0000 UTC]

So, basically, keep coloring until it looks right?
