Some of you have seen this before... here's an update! :DDecember 11, 2010: Re-started drawing in Photoshop only a month before creating this, after a year and a half of not drawing anything. Still not really good at getting the right results quickly.
April 29, 2010: Really quick redo-- didn't focus on hair. Mainly focused on certain type of face (8D); trying to get specific result with brush as fast as possible (wasn't focusing on color or detail or anything like that)
October 24, 2011: Finally developing own style, merged tons of things learned in previous year of experimenting on Photoshop!
Personally, I don't think I've improved much in the actual drawing of faces, but rather, improved at using brushes, settings, getting used to using Photoshop, etc to get where I want. xP

hmmm I first saw the second drawing and thought "weird...the hair is not so good what am I missing?" and then I read the post....I think I can see your point...his face, in fact his head seems more straight up or something....the clothes seems less exagerated too *>*

Your improvement is so seriously astounding
You're right; you've developed a style all your own over the years! The way you use gestural lines and colors is beautiful; it has such fluid motion to it yet at the same time, it brings everything together so well!

Trust me you have improved with the drawing of faces, the structure has always been fine, but the nose eyes and lips look fantastic in the final one. Plus the way you have improved with colouring is amazing, good job!

Thanks! It's mainly my speed that's improved though. If you compare to this: [link] which was done a year and a half before (my first photoshop), the structure is there, just takes AGES (40 hrs) to get there xP

shaping and shading the tip and bottom of the nose shows huge improvement as you go through, I would also say shading and defining of the lips is another area you've considerably increased through the three. I think the skin tone works a lot better also.
The left image is still vastly superior to anything I have the talent to produce though. :3 So well done

Well, I've shaped noses before: [link] (first drawing on Photoshop) but it's just, never fast (that one took 40 hrs). Haha, it always took me ages to get the brush to do what I want it to. x3
