Some of you have seen this before... here's an update! :DDecember 11, 2010: Re-started drawing in Photoshop only a month before creating this, after a year and a half of not drawing anything. Still not really good at getting the right results quickly.
April 29, 2010: Really quick redo-- didn't focus on hair. Mainly focused on certain type of face (8D); trying to get specific result with brush as fast as possible (wasn't focusing on color or detail or anything like that)
October 24, 2011: Finally developing own style, merged tons of things learned in previous year of experimenting on Photoshop!
Personally, I don't think I've improved much in the actual drawing of faces, but rather, improved at using brushes, settings, getting used to using Photoshop, etc to get where I want. xP

The technique and style of the most recent looks best, yet out of the three I find that the first one conveys the most emotion.. at least for me. The force in the eyes are what stand out. The third touches on it a bit.. could be that as it was the original drawing the original intent you'd felt was left in it.

I used Photoshop CS2, and you can cut the picture to copy it on. You need a digital program like photoshop elements or sai or something x3

The additional features you've added in as well as the facial glow matching quite well with the shadows on Rik's cheeks, oh, and the surprise and simple background gives a simple headshot more ambiance.
