oh, animate? that's easy!

when making an animation, each layer is like a frame. the bottom is the first frame, the top is the last frame. simply arrange the sprites in a way that it would look best animated (remember to put the next frame onto a new layer). once you're done, save it as a .gif in GIMP. it will ask if you want to save the image as one visible layer or as an animation (i don't need to tell you which one to pick to animate, right?). then a new pop-up box comes and asks you about how you want to save the animation. Frame delay is pretty much just Frames Per Second. (50 millisecond delay is 20 FPS, by the way). play around with the settings, then press either "Save" or "OK" (i forgot what button to press...l3). then you have an animation!
