Description Happy New Year!

A FOIL W.I.P. for you and stuffs! Ola folks and welcome to the new year. This one's a W.I.P. obviously so it's clearly still got a bit to go. Being I've been so busy with other work I have been noodling with FOILs in my off time. This one will be done soon though but for now here's a peek at one in progress It's a somewhat complimentary model to the already posted Strumgeist FOIL. There will be more detailed info later.

I missed being able to work on them regularly, it's been a busy last two years. Good news is you won't have to miss seeing them too much longer, there's a pile of new ones (some pretty weird too) coming down the pipeline Time has always been an issue, being I have to balance the fun spec stuff like Theos with the paying gigs that come along. The next few months are a lot more open for me to just work on this stuff and I hope I can also be a lot more active posting here and in the mecha communities in general My plan is to just get Theos out there more without shoving it down anyone throats, just post and let the art do its thing.

Heh, heh, cool Never played that game and first I ever seen anything from it so thanks for passing that along. Mecha "knight" style designs have been around for some time but I hope to be doing some different things with the idea of mecha for sure Cheers!

Indeed been pretty busy with other work but that's been good as you say

You betcha I am still working on them, I have plans to really amp this stuff up this year so long as I have the time to do so. I also expect we'll see more work from and potentially others for this project.

What I have planned for this project, starting this year, is simple let the net do it's thing. There will be a lot of new work that I hope will increase in frequency. Potential investors love internet driven fan bases as it shows marketability. I kinda want to have some fun seeing how big I can make this thing as to the awareness of it out there. We'll see. The main thing is I'm having fun with it.

That's good to hear. That would be really cool to get that off the ground. Do you happen to have a back story for the FOIL stuff already worked out? Do you have a website started for it? Shoot for the fun of it I might try to draw one. Talk with you later

There's a lot of material for both the FOILs and Theos Ke Polemos's world and story that has been completed. I've been spoon feeding the info in small servings so I haven't revealed anything close to the full picture yet. Obviously with the intent foe the material to be a potential TV project there is some material we'll want to keep under wraps to maintain the integrity og the stories surprises. As to websites, right now I will be using this and I hope to get back to work on our studio site vulnepro.com.

You're totally welcome to have a go and doing a FOIL, anyone is I've had more and more people asking me if it's ok to do them. I'll post something addressing this soon. There will probably be two categories, those who want to do fan arts and those who want to contribute to this in a more serious fashion. Take care man. I'll definitely see you round here more.

Hmm.... looks like those mass produced kind. Pretty interesting face design too, this one seem more close to human features than your other FOIL's.

Well many of the FOILs are body models that are produced in numbers with the heads being the primary custom part. There are a lot of flat out custom full designs too but this one, as you note, is a production body.

Yeah, that was always in the design philosophy for the machines. Precisely as you note it allows the sendai control entity a small amount of personalization or identity to have a unique head. FOILs are made in numbers but certain elements are handmade and the heads are made by separate satellite artisan companies, all custom designs. The head is often the true artistic visual statement on a FOIL though usually a head design will follow the established aesthetics of the body model it's made for. Pilots also will customize their machines in various ways as well whether modifications or something like WWII nose art.

My thanks man. I will be happy if a lot of the ideas break some ground in this well trodden genre. I do have this craving for something totally different with the notion of mecha so I'm certainly throwing my hat in the game to have a go at that

LOL yeah, lately designing a totally original mech seems to be getting a bigger challenge. Now with the emergence of newer type's mech (likes those from Zegapain) seems to broaden the limit on how a mech should be. Dunno if its a good thing or not but i guess we will never know until we try them out.

To a degree that's true but I think there's plenty of room to push the envelope still and that's what I hope we end up doing. The notion of "mecha" and the word mech are now part of our terminology as designers but in the context of this project (though others are welcome to call them as such) they're not mechs in the pure sense. Creating a setting with a race of creatures called sendai let me play with stretching the idea of what a "mech" should be as well and I certainly plan to explore that. These things are definitely independent consciousness and thinking creatures yet also tragic (FOIL in particular) in that they're slaves and tool of humanity. As the story progresses though the FOILs end up being a spearhead for sendai to gain more freedoms as the sendai on both Polemos and Indus begin to look at the FOILs more and more as legends of sorts, freedom fighters against overwhelming circumstances.

Thank you! Yes it is a shield, still in early paint render. The machine will also have a sword at it's hip as well and other details in the final.
