this is a collab with pandelirious and i for game #5! for this entry, i made the art and pan did the writing!
this is our first free entry!

Story:

"Oh! We should totally throw a party at your house..." Were the words that Dove said one day, which caught Luca by surprise, though he wasn't exactly sure why. He only nodded, like this was the wisest idea he'd heard in a while. "Indeed... we should totally throw a party at my house." Which, for some reason, prompted her to flop a paw over his face... What?! He was agreeeeeiiiiing! "We could invite some of the Foos from the Park Club, and we could set up a nice dinner outside on the deck.. oh. Or inside is fine." Luca turned at that. "No, no. What's wrong with doing it outside? The weather is really nice right now, it would be cool!"

"Yeah, I was thinking we could hang lanterns all around the edge, buuuut.... it's firefly season. And I know how you hate them..."

This made this boy Foo scrunch his face up, almost in offense. "What do you mean I hate them..? Fireflies are amazing!" He was -seriously- confused by the statement. Dove gave him one of her all knowing, raised eyebrows. "Luca... I have seen the way your skin ripples when one of them lands on you."

Again, he gasped, practically offended! "You, madame, are insane. Fireflies are the best! And it's a great idea to have dinner outside. It will be super pleasant. And the atmosphere will be amazing, because fireflies!"

Dove held up a placating paw. "Okay, crazy. Let's set up dinner outside then." She tried to keep the snicker to herself, and was successful. Mostly. So they went to the market. Luca was pretty good at following the instructions on his sister's recipes, but Dove spent the day showing him how to pick out the best of the ingredients, and why some were better than others. Or what made an even better substitute for some of the things he usually used. It was educational. Which made him all the more stoked to get back home and putting all the new morsels of knowledge to good use! Cooking took twice as long when there was two of them in the kitchen, but only because they ended up cracking each other up so much that sometimes they botched what they were working on and had to start over. At least nothing was burning! With everything in the oven or set to simmer they went about tidying the place up and getting things set up outside.

there was already a table and a few cushions, but he hadn't opened the outside storage since he'd moved into the place and they had a heck of a time trying to figure out the combo for the lock. At last, everything began to come together as the sun headed down. They were behind schedule, of course! It seemed to be how they operated x) So, the sun was already on it's way down as they pulled out the lanterns to hang. Dove was used to hanging lanterns, she was a fan apparently, so she made excellent time with Luca trundling back and forth to the bin to pull more out and pass to her. She was hanging the last few she had left, looking over her handy work. "What do you think, Luc? Does it look lit enough?" There was only a grumbly sound from behind that she couldn't quite make out. "Luca?" She turned to see what this weirdo was up to now...

Lo and behold... there he sat.......... in the middle of the deck, with a firefly settled on his nose. Very obviously trying to have the quietest as possible argument with the little bug about how it very much needed to get the HECK of his nose immediately, thankyoubugsir...... because he wasn't about to admit that it gave him the creeps when bugs landed on him!
