So two things. First- This page depressed me because, well... I see so many other artists do just 5 minutes sketches of backgrounds that are just... wow! But at least I know this is something I can work on, and hopefully I can grow in this area.

SECOND THING:

Yes, this is Pitch's lair. There was a pretty good amount of ref pictures for his lair, but I still am not quite happy with this. Didn't want to spend a lot of time on it, wanted it to look just sketched and splashed with shading... but then I DID spend a long time on it. So... eh.
But the point is, when people draw Pitch's lair for a before or after or alternate story to the movie, I always wonder why they put in the hanging cages. I mean... why would Pitch keep those around? Wouldn't they have just been for the tooth sprites?

But thennnn I remembered Pitch's backstory. And after looking at refs for his hideout, I got the feel of some underground, ancient ruins... ruins of a castle. Or ruins of a grand prison made to keep terrible fearlings locked up by a brave warrior. So the cages seemed appropriate again. Not being used now... just reminders.

For those who don't know Pitch's backstory... you won't really get this. Sorry ._. hopefully you can enjoy the setting all the same.
