With the upper half of the glob scooped away, she opened her right eye a sliver, and suddenly she wasn't so pleased with the pace of her backwards retreat. She flipped over and began crawling to gain more space. Once she got far enough away she could clear away the last of the frosting obscuring her vision and formulate an attack plan.

But it was not to be. A huge sticky hand clamped down on both her ankles and pulled her back towards the monster. Its other hand grabbed her around her thighs. She was being lifted up, the golem feeding her feet into its sugary maw. It changed its grip. Now the first hand was around her waist. Sindred squirmed, growled, tried to kick against the golem's gums, but all the force was absorbed by the cake creature's spongy interior.

The golem didn't have a deadly bite, but it gave her rib cage a strong squeeze as it chomped down on her. Sindred wheezed out two precious lungfuls of air through her gritted teeth. This was it, huh?
