Just a small note here- the sketch version of this spent a short time in my scrapbook. Then I received this colored version as a gift from the same person who inked and colored the "Jinkies" picture. And again I'd like to say thanks!

Anyways, here's the story for those that missed it:

Liar! The water was not "fine." It was freezing. Tame waves lapped at Nellie's ankles as she repeatedly curled and uncurled her toes in the pebble and snail shell studded sand of the lake. "This is as far as I'm going!" she blurted.

Out in deeper water, her husband tried coaxing her. "Oh come on, it's not so bad. You just gotta jump in."

This was probably another lie. But she felt silly for agreeing to drive all the way up here without going for a swim. Cautiously, Nellie waded a bit further into the lake. The water kissed her thighs, causing her untanned skin to erupt in goosebumps. Nellie was thankful she was facing away from the crowded beach, because her nipples were instantly erect, apparent even through the padded cups of her one-piece suit.

Unfortunately, that got her thinking about how she was practically mooning the crowd with her inexcusably white butt. Nellie splashed her way into waist deep water. Specs of algae clung to her arms, and somewhere down and off to her left, she spied a school of small shapes darting away. Panic shifted her voice up an octave. "There are fish in this lake!" Once the words left her lips, Nellie realized how ridiculous they sounded, but she stuck to her guns. "Fish and weird plants are in the lake, and now I'm getting out of the lake."

Predictably, her husband saw this not as an extremely poor place to pick his battle, but only as an opportunity to make fun of her. "I can picture the headline now: Location City Woman Devoured By Minnows. I think you'll be safe, hon."

It wasn't the tiny ones she was worried about. On their way up north, they stopped at a diner with taxidermied fish covering the wall. Nellie shivered thinking about the hideous, long-bodied, green-striped monsters with mouths full of sharp, pointy teeth. They could be lurking anywhere, even behind her, cutting off her escape! She froze. Her arms were raised to her sides, safely out of the water, but as for the rest of her body... It was practically a big, plump invitation to be eaten. Those freshwater sharks would ignore the skinny people and tear her to pieces!

This was when her husband did exactly the wrong thing and slipped underwater unnoticed and started to swim towards her.
