"Where'dja go? Where's Biscuit, huh? Where is she?" Biscuit bounded out from under Marissa's considerable blind spot, wheeled around, and barked. "There's the good girl! There she is!" Biscuit looked so pleased with her reappearing act that Marissa's heart broke into a thousand tiny pieces. Collin wasn't getting his dog back when he returned from vacation. This was going to be a carefully planned dog-napping; she'd change her locks, her telephone number, and she'd practice a fake accent for when he knocked on her door.

"Go a-vey. I haff no dog. Who ees thees Melissa? You are, how they say: crazy person. Go. I call police." Yes, that would do nicely. She addressed the dog, who was peering at her quizzically. "And then all you have to do is not bark. Otherwise you'll blow my cover. Can you do that?"

"Arf."

"Okay, but that's exactly what you're not supposed to do. It's a good thing we have a few more days to practice."

"We can go on loads more walks!" This got Biscuit circling excitedly. "Just, in a second... I need more of a break still." Marissa leaned back, not caring if her butt got rusty from the bridge railing. She was wearing orange shorts anyways. "I'm outta shape! Huh. You don't seem shocked to hear that." Melissa's body had rudely been shifted into gear after years of dormancy. So the arches of her feet screamed, her calves felt knotted up, her quads burned and her inner thighs were rubbed rosy red. She panted, her breaths shallower than she'd like due to the weights atop her chest: monster titties that whined to her about not getting enough support from her bra; shifting, back-straining, sore, sweaty sandbags.

She discreetly brushed the B button on her t-shirt and winced. Yup- still tender. "Once I get used to all this pesky bouncing around, I bet we'll be able to go all over the city! Won't that be cool?" If not for Biscuit, Marissa would probably be cocooned in her room, blinds closed, propped up in bed and typing on her laptop while listening to music on her headphones. Instead she was under the sun, braving crowded sidewalks to explore new places, with her agoraphobia and anxiety on a leash. With the dog she didn't have to be so self conscious. Smiles didn't seem as threatening and she could blunder through small talk without wanting to self-immolate. Being out and about was still scary, but she felt the thrill of freedom she hadn't experienced in years. She was giddy.
