I got NiGHTS journey of dreams yesterday. I gotta say, so far this has been one of the most enjoyable wii games I ever played, and I'm not just saying that because I'm totally fanboying over NiGHTS either. Its kind of a shame that Elliot and Claris didn't come back, but the new kids are just like them, the boy loves a sport (this time its soccer instead of basketball) and the girl loves music (violin rather than singing) And NiGHTS has a VOICEACTOR! HE TALKS!! Unfortunately, he has the voice of a young British kid, that, combined with his ability to dualize with both boys and girls makes me wonder...what is NiGHTS' gender supposed to be!? I swear they go through extraordinary lengths not to use pronouns in the manual, I coulda sworn at least once they refer to NiGHTS as an "it." There was a NiGHTS into Dreams comic book a long time ago where it was obvious that he was a guy, but I'm not sure if that's cannon with the games.Ok, lamenting too long on the gender of androgynous dream jesters...
edit: I made a snap judgment, Eliot and Claris were not available off the bat so I assumed they weren't in the game, but I now know that they can be unlocked by collecting all 60 dream drops.
edit #2: By the way, I am fully aware that NiGHTS' voice actor is a woman, but then again so is Bart Simpson's, so I don't go by that as a defining characteristic. Also, this was supposed to be a little joke, I didn't expect to get nearly 100 comments of people speculating themselves 0_0. Still, your feedback is welcome and I thank you for all the favs, collections, and especially comments (this has become one of my most popular submissions.)

*peeks head in* Sorry, don't know if you know yet, but for the use of both female and male characters, NiGHTS is androgynous and genderless. They refer to NiGHTS as a 'he' in the english version of the game because there actually is no proper word that is gender neutral. Ok so that's all the information I had, GREAT artwork BTW, I would love to see a proper crossover with Sonic and NiGHTS!Β

Um, actually, all human chests are curved, it's just that females are more pronounced than males. One of the common mistakes made by beginning artists (at least, according to my art teacher) is trying to draw the front of a male figure and the back of any human (male or female) figure as a straight, flat surface. The back curves inward (just like the spine does) while the chest curves outward. It's a slight curve, but it's still there.
Plus the raised gemstones on NiGHTS' outfit make NiGHTS' body look curvier than it is.

Actually, SEGA never gave NiGHTS a gender, saying something about it being easier to connect or something, I don't know. Either way they didn't give it a gender.

officially NiGHTS is genderless Sega thought that making her ambiguous would make her appeal to a wider audience.
she is referred to as "he" sometimes because calling someone "it" is very rude. she is also (like Nightopia) a reflection of the vsitors heart.

Agreed, RealaXNights is really cool too. But I just think JackleXNights is so much cuter and not so well-known pairing. I mean, have you seen how many NightsXJackle AMVs on Youtube there are? Like, one AMV out of fifty RealaXNights AMVs.

I'm that way at first, because I don't know that much about the characters and series yet, but over time I change from pairing to pairing until I find one I like, such as the Detective Conan franchise, it's canon that Shinichi/Conan is gonna be with Ran (I prefer Japanese names in this franchise, most of the time I don't) But I would prefer Shinichi/Conan be with Shiho/Ai, which isn't canon...

I like the pairings to make sense too.Β rly don't understand that couple. cream's personality is "let's be friends!" and shadow's is "I hate u, now die," im all for the "opposites attract" thing and several of the shippngs I supportΒ are just that, but that makes no sense. especially since shadow will live forever and cream wont and its sick how people pair them together.Β I like the logical pairings when it comes to the series' I like, especially sonic. u can already tell what couples I like in the sonic series since they'reΒ in my signature and I think they all make sense.

Yes, I like a lot of those pairing too, though I pretty much jump from pairing to pairing when it comes to Sonic, one day I'd like Sonamy, the next Sonally, a week later I'd love Sonaze, those three pairings have so much sense in them, 'specially Sonaze (The creator admitted once that if Sonic would have a pairing in the games it would be with Blaze) and Sonally (i mean, in all cases where it happens Sonic had literally grown up side by side to Sally)

Nights is kindof like Peter Pan who is played by either a boy or a girl! So yeah, go either way people. Still I suppose he is supposed to be genderless, though I rather hate calling living things as such, which is why I call him either a male or a female.

I'm probably only one of the may that have said this but I think that the creators of NIGHTS said that the character was, in fact, genderless. NIGHTS is an it ladies and gentlemen.
