"I am... from this world, yes. Alas, the world was different when I first walked its fields. I remember when there were fields and there were trees, and a sapphire ocean that was as soothing as the breeze. It has been some time since then but, anyway, would you like some tea?"

Character reference sheet commission for Schimitty (who is also one of my players for my Wednesday game, "Homeworld"). Mixture between cel-shaded and soft cel-shaded.

----------------------

It's a miracle that I was able to finish this piece despite it being started in a Photoshop version that was more up to date than the version I finished it in. What with the whole Mac hard drive failure and losing access to the ABRs (photoshop brushes) that I frequented on top of all the other hardships happening in my life... well, I'm just happy that I did Talinas justice and her sheet looks nice :>

Among all the details and call-outs, my favorite thing is the text pane depicting a wild, untamed jungle scene. The text needed to be able to pop without having a big outline around it and while the outer glow did help, the two values were too similar to the value of the background. Having something darker and different was JUST what was needed and, in the end, I think it looks super snazzy without it being too distracting!

Also, making the framing and color palette thematic to her was the icing on the cake. Instead of doing a neat diamond pattern for the colors or just a line of squares, I wanted to harken back to her story of her being a Circle of the Shepherd Druid. For those who don't know, that particular circle is known for summoning creatures into battle and, with what Schimitty and I thought for her, was that she uses death magic to balance the world. All of her summons are the spirits of her animal friends she outlived. It felt fitting to have the color palette, then, be raven skulls, especially since her nickname has been "The Pale Dawn" on account of wildshaping into an albino crow to deliver messages to a resistance group.

FINALLY, the teapot, that was a gift from her best buddy Mr. Gloomberry, is a magical item! Its' ability is as follows:

This teapot has 3 charges which recharge at the next dawn. You can use an action to pour a cup of Goodberry Tea, which restores 2d4 + 2 HP and provides nourishment for 24 hours. This effect cannot stack. Alternatively, you can expend a 1st-level spell slot to infuse the teacup with a brief font of magic, bumping up the healing of your next cup of Goodberry Tea to 4d4 + 4 HP gained. This infusion effect can only be triggered by Druids or Rangers, and anyone else that may have access to the "Goodberry" spell.
