Great use of contrast, especially your hightlights and shadows, with a broad middle-area that you've expertly used to create a beautiful rendering of 3 dimention.
Simple color pallete (almost monochromatic if I didn't know better), and even a nice choice on the background.
I think my only suggestion might have been even the slightest hint at a shadow of some sort to ground the character. With all of the work on shadows and shading, it just seems slightly awkward to have him floating there. But then, maybe you tried and it just didn't look right, or it's not awkward to anyone else.
