Mewtwo simply is one of my favorite Pokémon. The first movie made sure of that.
I knew I wanted to do Mewtwo next, and I thought I knew kind of how I wanted to pose him, but that turned out not to be case. I sketched up a few possibilities, some where he was powerful or menacing, floating around, or defending himself. This was the last one I drew and it was a fairly neutral pose, but I felt he had a kind of calm strength about him here, and ultimately it was the one I chose for this.
I really liked a lot of those other sketches too so I plan to do more with some of them. The sketches though are available on Patreon.

Mm, I love the first movie so much. One of my favorite movies of all time. I'm not sure how I'll feel about the reboot. I haven't taken the chance yet to see that relatively recent movie that was I think somewhat of a reboot of the first episode. I'm admittedly not keen on the idea of rebooting some of the things that I feel were done so well the first time, but I'm willing to give them a shot.

I was going to say I think Ho-Oh would've been the first, but technically it would be Mewtwo if you count the original opening theme, wouldn't it? xD
I will say I think he's definitely had the most presence of all of them that I've seen.

That's exactly what I meant. If Americans were introduced to Pokemon through the anime first, then Mewtwo is by default the first Pokemon they ever saw, both legendary and overall. Even after all these years, Mewtwo still has many appearances
