This is so cute! Just this week we visited on my grandfather's summercottage and I took thousands of photos of these birds! Love them! I think they're called 'hΓΆmΓΆtiainen' in Finnish

I love birds, we have a lot of feeders and they are around all day eating. We see a lot of different kinds and I enjoy watching them. It's a great hobby.

That's same on my homeplace. They're so beautiful. But on the Autumn we have to be very pedantic that we start feeding early enough, so that the birds doesn't lost their "faith" on us and go elsewhere

I feed them all year round so that they stay. Winters can be harsh here so I always make sure they have something to eat. We had a Cooper's Hawk lurking around last summer and the birds stopped coming around for a few months. I was really upset with the hawk but I knew he was trying to eat too. I was glad when he found somewhere else to hunt and the birds returned.

Oh, what an interesting story ^^ We feed birds just at winter, that's very common there and I think nobody feeds birds there at summer. But it really cheers me up when we start feeding birds, since that's when there's still not snow lightening the landscape, but already cold, and it makes you feel a little bit overcasted...

Alot of people here just feed the birds in the winter too. My husband and I are avid birdwatchers, we take birding hikes with the Audubon Society and other bird organizations and we have a life list. A life list is a list of all the different birds you find in your life time. It is fun to keep the list, we are always on the hunt for a new bird to add to the collection.

So interesting! I've never heard of that kind of organizations. I checked the Audubon out on google and found it very interesting. Is it working only in USA? Anyway, I think it's also very useful organization, since it may helps to follow bird crowds (I'm not sure if 'crowd' is the right word used with birds, but I'm sure you understand... ).

I don't know if the Audubon Society is international. But you could start a birding club locally or check and see if you have birding clubs in your area. You could make up your own life list and start recording all the birds you see like we do. It is fun to watch birds with other people. And by the way, I love the way you talk, it is so different!

Yep, that sounds good :] And at least I can watch them on my home yard, even if I wasn't in any organisation. It's so much fun to watch them with my family!
Thank you, that's fun to know you like my way to talk! I've only studied English at school, but I've tried to talk in different internet forums as much as possible so that I could improve myself. The weird/different sounding things on my speech may are results in Finnish, that's my mother tongue. No matter how "clear" English I try to talk, I think it's affects will never fully disappear. And I guess that's not only a bad thing

I think it's awesome that you know more than one language! I only know english and various words from other languages but not how to speak in the languages themselves. I also think it's great that we can talk through the internet, we would not have met otherwise. My Dad's ancestors are from Finland but I don't know where exactly. I like to watch the travel channel and pretend that I am visiting the places they talk about. Maybe someday I will actually get to see some of those places.

Yeah, sometimes it feels it's too much they try to teach us at school, but backwards I have to say I'm happy they did Normally you study at least three languages in Finnish compulsory school; Finnish (mother tongue), Swedish (since it's the second formal language in Finalnd and you have to be able to serve your customers in Swedish as well as in Finnish), and English (the first foreing language). In addition to that you can choose nearly as much languages as you want since middle school (France, Germany, Spanish, Russian, Italy, Latin...) but that varies to school to school. I've studied English (since third grade), Swedish (since fifth or sixth grade) and Germany (since eight grade), but I can only speak English this well.
Oh, you have some family in Finland? That's so exciting! I really hope you could make a trip in Finalnd one day :] There is nothing really big (compared big cities like Paris & NewYork), but many little nice things I live in the west coast of Finland, and there ground is flat (because of it earlier was the bottom of sea) and everywhere is very much fields. In short, there is much forest and lakes in middle and east part of Finland, "big" cities in the south part of Finland and fjelds and nature in the north part of Finland. So, if you want to see sightseeings, go to south, if nature, go to north ;D

I don't know my whole history, just that my father had ancestors from Finland. My sister is doing a geneology search to see if we can find out more. I have seen Finland on the travel channel, it looks beautiful. If I ever get to Finland I'll let you know.
