Is it bad I used to live in a similar abode many years ago? Not nearly as dilapidated though πΈ

still walking around in light sweaters here with green leaves on the trees still, not looking forward to this scene again, summer was to short as it wasΒ Β

well, the leaves are still on the trees here, many still green.Β We have about 10 inches of wet heavy snow.Β Most of the roads are closed.Β We are hoping it will let up a bit over the day.

Kind of a odd pounding you got, would expect that more so on the coast line or great lakes region
maybe a " Perfect Storm set of conditions " ?
YA inches this time of year would catch anyone off guard, They aren't setting up for snow removal here yet Β

yup.Β Still happening.Β Most of the highways are closed.Β I think we have more snow now than we had all last winter.

I've heard we had been supposed to get a bad one this year, maybe the prediction will hold true

WayneBenedet In reply to GraphFrite [2019-10-13 00:35:38 +0000 UTC]
Well for now it has let up.Β However, the snow is so heavy we have had to remove some of it from the roof (The eves trough was being pulled down, but I think we got it in time).Β The temperature is staying just at freezing over night and we have warmer days this week.Β That will reduce the snow, but we have had so much rain, the ground can't take much more and there are areas that are flooding.Β Apparently the province has been declared a disaster area

GraphFrite In reply to WayneBenedet [2019-10-13 10:03:47 +0000 UTC]
Hopefully it ends and things clear up, colder temps and a slow melt so it doesn't flood due the saturation point at it's limit already Β

WayneBenedet In reply to GraphFrite [2019-10-14 00:35:25 +0000 UTC]
It may be too late for that.Β The ground was already saturated before the snow.Β In Winnipeg (the capital of the province) they operated the flood way to divert water around the city for the first time ever.Β Β

By the sounds of that the Red and Assiniboine must be over theirs banks or at the least high water marks
π: 0 β©: 1
WayneBenedet In reply to GraphFrite [2019-10-15 14:28:02 +0000 UTC]
I am not sure about the Assiniboine, but the Red is high.Β I don't think there is risk to property from the rivers at this point, the big one his hydro.Β Apparently there are thousands of people without electricity.Β The town of Carmen has been out for a while, and further north is even more of a problem.Β There are many hydro towers down, so they will need to be replaced before electricity can be restored to many communities.

sounds very much Quebec a few years back with that massive ice storm that took their power grid for some timeΒ

WayneBenedet In reply to GraphFrite [2019-10-15 14:53:42 +0000 UTC]
there are probably some similarities.Β We have been very fortunate.Β No damage to our property and power was only out for about an hour.
