Description I hiked back to the shipwreck (seen in my 'Dawn and a Derelict' photo) again. ... hiking the snow drifts on Lake Superior in the dim twilight was tough going but absolutely beautiful!

When I arrived at the place shortly before the sun rose, this old 15-foot-high shipyard remnant was the first item on my shoot list.. it's sentinel-like stance felt to me like it had defied time and decay in order to guard over the shipwreck 100 feet behind it.

when the sun rose it was obscured by a cloud bank on the horizon and I was initially disappointed.. but then lifted higher igniting some rather spectacular clouds with a firey highlight.

Lovely, as usual.

I love the whole idea of man-made-object-lost-in-the-larger-world -- that's why I love to shoot run-down industrial areas and ruined buildings. I see you are often drawn to the same things.

Beautiful photo, as always. ...Though this is just a tiny bit too small. I feel like I'm missing out on some detail that really would have added to this.

oh well ... what screen resolution do you use? ... alot of folks are still at 1024x768 .. so I've resized my whole gallery to fit that size screen without scrolling

sorrowisapanther In reply to wb-skinner [2007-03-09 07:36:57 +0000 UTC]

That's what I use.

Hmm... All the same, beautiful photo.

well you don't like to scroll to view the picture do you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sorrowisapanther In reply to wb-skinner [2007-03-09 20:19:06 +0000 UTC]

I'm more interested in image clarity than convenience of viewing. It's not like scrolling is such tremendous effort.

But I fear I'm beginning to sound rude, and I honestly don't mean to be.

wb-skinner In reply to sorrowisapanther [2007-03-09 20:52:04 +0000 UTC]

no .. it's a good point.. and I don't take offence easily.. I personally feel that scrolling doesn't allow my eye to find the composition flow. And I'm not being defensive old friend.. It's a conversation

Oh my, where abouts is this, this would be worth the road trip. I was doing some back country skiing in the U.P. this weekend, no snow shoes made wading through the waist high snow such a drag, well worth the hike though.

wb-skinner In reply to Dodongo [2007-03-09 05:58:13 +0000 UTC]

yeah ..this is about a two mile hike.. through drifts about 5 feet high .. luckily they were hard-crusted and I could walk over.. fell through a couple times though ..shoulda had my snowshoes..
