Gotta get it tidied!Art Notes:
I wanted to draw a character in a mid-90s style. I don't think I totally succeeded, but it was fun to try out. Artistically, I'm not really in tune with the mid-late nineties- I'm closer to the eighties and the modern looks when I try to draw. There are many little quirks in that period of time that I'm not good at emulating.
Anyways, I drew this in Manga Studio 5.

My first thought was "Galaxy Frauline Yuna!" so you're definitely on the right track for the 90s style! Β Nice work!

Super gorgeous gal, and lovely styling, even if it's not as close to what you wanted. Β She's a mighty fine anime gal that's ready for a swim. Β I do like your 80's inspired style too, looking at your gallery.

Thanks! It's close, but not quite to the 90s look. There are some little stylistic touches that were popular at the time that I can't quite imitate. In fairness, there are some from the 80s, too, but I'm a bit better at faking those. I'm glad you liked the pic!

Definitely close! Β I'm reminded of designs that were seen often in 90's Artmic-AIC shows.... and I actually grew up with 70's and 80's anime shows in English and French before getting to watch the original Japanese material. ^^ Can't wait to see more of your great stuff!

Glad you liked the pic! The mid-late nineties were an interesting time in anime. While I think I prefer the 80s and modern artstyles, that period was full of fun series and lots of great stories.

Oh, I dunno...I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Β You know I'm a fan of early- to mid-90s anime...Ranma 1/2, Slayers, El Hazard, Tenchi Muyo, etc. Β The style here looks like it could well be like them, and I enjoy it very much. Β The gal's feet look a little wonky, though, her left one especially. Β It's drawn in a manner that looks out of place with the credible job you did with the rest of her. Β And speaking of Ranma and Tenchi Muyo, the look on her face (and her outfit) screams "harem anime!" or "obligatory onsen scene!" Β
