Description
Very basic poster pic for my Kyo Kara Maoh crack fic, "Urusei Pompeii!". I'll do a nicer version later (a properly coloured version) when I have more time. Mind you, even though I have photoshop now I doubt I'll stop inking by hand. I certainly won't ever stop drawing by pencil, that's for sure. Half the reason I love doodling so much is because I find there's nothing more relaxing than sitting back with a sketchpad in my lap ^^Yuuri x Wolfram

Very cute anime guys! I love the jewelry. It looks quite authentic for the period--I've seen armbands and necklaces from this era in the museum! Oh, I am coveting the armband on the blonde, but on second thought it probably looks better on him than on my middle-aged arms!

Thank you very much!
LOL I know what you mean, I have some gorgeous moroccan armbands but I'm too shy to wear them on my arms XDD

I just read that story. It was very nice and I wish it had more chapters. It reminds me of the fanfiction I started for kkm but it had another culture in it and it doesn't take place in the present at all... It's not doing pretty good, but I like it!

Cheers! I'll be updating soon. It should be wrapped up in 15 chapters or so. ^^ I would also recommend reading SomniumQuiesco's KKM fanfic, Whispers of the Rye: [link] It's soooo good, I'm completely addicted to it.

WHOO~! I'm so looking forward to it!
And I read the first couple chapters of Whispers of Rye. It is SO INTERESTING. How did I not hear of this before?

Whilst I do have to wonder about what those armbands on Yuuri, I must say I overally like the aesthetic feel of these two. It definitely seems roman era, even if your typical roman is depicted in a toga (frankly I'm glad you went and averted that).
The colouring is also pretty well done. Solid colours really go well with your art style - and the eyes are really well then, paricularly with almost lens flare-esque effect used to give off the feel of light upon their eyes.

Eeek, wow! Cheers for the lovely crit mate! The fic is very cheesy anime cliche, but even so I'm doing a lot of research on Pompeii life c.79AD for it. Pompeii's always fascinated me, even more so since I visited - I mean dude, you HAVE to go see it if you get the chance, and the museum of archeology in neighbouring Naples (oddly the guy who played Greedo in Star Wars gave me directions to that museum XD). Odd ramble over...
This is just a really sketchy version at the moment with rubbishy flat colours. When I have more time I'll finish it off, but I'm currently running around trying to get all my jags for Tanzania (I'm like Goku when facing a needle - this is not going to be fun...).

Research is the sign of a writer who gives a c*** about what they're writing (unlike one Mr Dan Brown). And yeah, Pompeii is pretty fascinating. The people there would likely have had no clue of the horror they were witnessing. An unknown force was simply tearing their lives apart. Chilling to think about.
Good luck with the needles. Just make sure not to move around a great deal once they're inside, you might ju- wait, nevermind. You've likely got enough paranoia to deal with already.
Also watch out for Greedo. He might just try to shoot first!

Ohh I love research, even for jokey anime cliche fanfics like this. I mean the fanfic I'm writing isn't to be taken seriously by any stretch, but even so I still prefer knowing my history. That and y'know me, I'm a proud history nerd!
Ah Dan Brown. You know, even though people give him stick for his books, I don't think he's a terrible writer - he's good at what he does, which is writing airport-paperbacks that require little brainpower to read. Light and enjoyable enough pool-side reading. He's the author equivalent of the Braveheart movie - inaccurate and not to be taken seriously, but mildly enjoyable. And besides, I always think if a historical book or film encourages at least 1 person out of 10 to some do real research on the historical subject, then it's worth it. Heck, I mean it's because of the movie Braveheart that the US knows Scotland exists.
Oh oh! You have to read a novel about Pompeii by Richard Harris (aptly named Pompeii). He actually does his research and it's soooo good! Perfect read for summer!
O_O Why would you say that?!?!
And lastly, HAN SHOT FIRST!

My main problem with him is that he encourages wrong information, claiming that his works are '99% accurate'. It might be accurate in an alternate universe where the laws of physics and history are different, but his works sure as hell aren't here. You know you've screwed up when you have a wikipedia page dedicated to how inaccurate you are. Yet people still think what he's written down can actually be taken as fact. Tis utterly ridiculous.
I can work with the idea he's a good writer. I just wish he'd use better info, considering his previous statements on such things.

Thank you so much for the kind comment! Sorry it took so long to reply
Sketching by hand is so much more relaxing - old school for the win!
