Merida's 16 in Brave, well into puberty, but I just figure she's just not interested in getting involved in messy romance for a good while, if ever. My headcanon is Merida and MacGuffin (plus the other suitors) have many misadventures over the years, and in her own time she starts developing a thing for MacGuffin.
