Description If one axe is good, two must be better - so a doubleaxe is best.

Download for full crazy high-def version.

This is me, in my homemade lacquered, segmented and suede-edged chestplate and bracers, plated gauntlets and with my sweet sweet home - and while the picture is from 2007, not much has changed since.

It is a dream to fight with in a LARP: Since it is especially made to allow for safe thrusting, a rare quality in boffer latex weapons where I play, I'm able to use it for thrusts, sweeps as well as hard chops - and it can double as a quarterstaff, since both ends are business ends. In one on one combat it is very difficult to defend against - and in mass combat it is a perfect polearm to poke and sweep over or under enemy shield walls.

Also here's a youtube of my demonstrating the actual use the weapon: [link]

And while that doesn't show very much, then a few glimpses of me using it (as a grey-cloaked orc) can be seen in this: [link] at around 1:50 - it is a small but well made amateur documentare about another LARPer where I play.

This weapon was directly inspired by that game... as horrible as it might as been

but it works wonders IRL

verily

although for the last year I've been meaning to make a replacement for it.

its only real flaw is that I can't stand it up without the bottom blunt end twisting a little to the side

doesn't sound like much - but after a few months that'll turn into an ugly twist. I don't want that.

Its a question of practicality vs utility. For maximum utility both ends should be like the pointy spear end. For practical reasons I want a blunt end that I can put down on the ground. Of course, with this thing in the field I just usually throw it on the ground when not using it... so a future iteration of the design might be more pointy in both ends... and it'll probably look more orky as well

not fixed - you don't 'fix' old and worn out latex weapons. the primary damage over time these things suffer is the degradation of the foam-rubber they're made out of. it pulverized over repeated compression (like certain areas that bend together or are squished when hitting stuff) - you can't fix that

in theory I could 'skin' it and replace all the foam... but then you'd have ugly seams all over where you put the latex/cloth skin back together

it is easier, faster and prettier to make a new one.

I might just retire this one - hang it on a wall

Supose so yeah ye wouldnt want it to be all covered in seems instead of being fluently clean. Well if you make a new one i look foward to seeing it
