Isn't safe!?! Come on, it isn't safe in South Africa or in Middle East, but not in Poland! We are EU just as you are and the Schengen area. I know Americans still believe that polar bears walk on streets of Poland but they are Americans if you know what I mean.
I'm at international relations and I have made some research that western Europe people see us as a part of Russia, until they visit Poland. I recommend you Wroclaw ("The City of meetings") and Lower Silesia not only because I live here but here you could see that people are really friendly and most of us speak English and welcome foreign tourist.
In central Poland the landscape is not very unique, there are hills, fields and villages but southern Poland are mountains. Only Bieszczady Mts. in SE part or our country are still a little wild (but not enough for me).
I know all the stereotypes about Poland, that we drink lots of vodka, steal cars, don't like foreigners and so on but the reality is that we are in EU and we act like Europeans.
Of course there still are people who voted on Kaczyński 2 years ago but where aren't? You also have politicians an the right who don't like foreigners...
Anyway, to sum up. As a internationalist I can assure you that Poland is safe for foreigners and as a geographer I recommend you it's southern part, with Lower Silesia as a must.

Please don't feel offended! It was quite some time ago. We haven't been going on holiday for years.
I'm international too! Born in Indonesia, lived in Thailand, England.
I'm interested in Poland, and seen a lot of places in books and on the internet. And like you say, every country has got
it's positif and negativ things. That's quite normal.
Poland has got a beautiful nature, Here in the Netherlands it's all made by men! And the woods we have are small. But I love them.
In Poland you kan hike for days without seeing another town. But here there is hardly some nature between the towns.
This is what I really miss here. In the north you can find quiet places. That's where we always go in spring.
Have you ever been in Holland?
The most eastern city I've been in Europe is Berlin. Once booked a trip to Moskow and St. Petersburg, but it was cancelled because
there were not enough people who where interested at that time! I was very disappointed.
I've been in Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, France (!), Spain and England in Europe.
We love to go to the south of France (Provence and the south close to the Pyrenees), because of the temperature and the wild landscape, and less tourists.
Some towns in Italy are on my list because of the art there!

I don't feel offended at all, I just wanted to clear up some things. With this walking for days without a village in Poland is also stereotype, maybe, MAYBE in SE part of the country but that's all. And in the protected forests of course.
You know what? If you wanted visit Poland some day just let me know, my family leads a kind of private hotel for tourists and it's here [link] in Masyw Śnieżnika Mts. You can find photos in my gallery. So I invite you to Poland and can be your guide. I know Lower Silesia and Wroclaw quite good.
Just let me know earlier

That would be great!!! I will sure keep it in mind! My father is rather old, 87, and we won't leave him alone as long as he is alive. So will only go abroad when he isn't here anymore. Until then we only go away for short holidays in Holland, since my mother died 2 years ago.
You're always welcome in our house too! We live close to Utrecht, in the centre of Holland, and it's easy to travel from here.
I really feel sorry to hear that it's a sereotype about the mountains. I really thought that that part of Poland was huge and without many towns.
So now I'll have to learn more about Poland.

The closest Holland I've been so far was Hannover and Bremen in Germany.
I'd like to see Holland, especially when all these flowers are in bloom but so far my professor sends me to London on a scholarship and this summer is for Crimea and Ukraine. I had also a work offer in Netherlands, riding on horses. But I decided that riding remains my hobby, not duty...
But don't forget about the holiday in Poland and here you have quite good website about Wroclaw [link]

Quite close! You should come in spring, when we have the tulips. We could go to the KEUKENHOF. There you can see lots of them in a special park.
So you are going to London! How long will you stay there? Maybe you can come a couple of days on your way back home? When I was young I lived in the north of London (Little Chalfont) for half a year as an au-pair.
Crimea and Ukraine sounds great too. That's for a holiday I asume.
Thanks for the link to Wroclaw! I will put a note about you and Wroclaw in my agenda!!! So I won't forget! Please do the same about Holland. You're always welcome!

Thanks again So far I don't want to go to London and I'll try to postpone my scholarship... Or exchange London to somewhere in Switzerland
I can't imagine living in a big city without weekends in the mountains as I have right now.
We'll see

Ohh, very pretty. You captured the reflection of the lights real well in the water. The photo itself is a bit small, but it's not like I can't tell what it is or anything. It's a very pretty shot; great job.

Ik kon gewoon niet in Delft rondwandelen zonder foto's te nemen.
En dit was natuurlijk de moeite heel erg waard.

There won't be lights like on the picture in spring or autumn. But it would still be a wonderful place to visit. In case you get a chance to visit our country, please remember I would love to meet you, and I might be able to show you around!!!

When I first saw this, I thought it was the River Walk in San Antonio , Texas. This is lovely, I love the lights across the water and the reflection. Great shot.
