What a creative title!I've had this sketched for about half a year, but only finished it recently.

Yeah, if you haven't read the book, it's more awesome than the movie. Dianna Wynne Jones is an absolutely phenomenal-awesome writer. Check her out.

Great art! I think you captured most of the character's personalities well.
Though the fact that you weren't aware of the book in the first place makes me sad, not to mention most of the people who commented thought Howl was one of the coolest Ghibi characters, like you. I mean, I love that book and I read it before the movie was made, so it saddens me that people think Ghibli came up with it. So read the book, please, and it's sequel, Castle in the Air.

While it may be unfortunate that a lot of people such as myself aren't aware of this story's origins, I am glad that seeing this movie might give people the incentive to check out the books as well, just as people who read the books might be inclined to see Ghibli's adaptation of the story. I may pick up a copy of the books on my next shopping trip.

I'm not so sure...I don't even know if the book has become any more popular at all. And please do get a copy, you wouldn't regret it. Howl is a much more deep character in the book than in the movie, and I love him even more in the book. Which is saying something, seeing as the movie Howl is pretty darn awesome. And the fire, who's name escapes me (it's been a while since I've seen or read it, plus I'm bad with names), is much cooler also. If you like it, be sure to get Castle in the Air.

My only complaint about this picture is that Calcifer isn't bright enough. He looks like a dull burnt out flame, but he's way too awesome for that. Other than that, WICKED AWESOME JOB!

The lines are so amazingly wicked- as is the colours and the lighting. Wonderful wonderful job.
(And if you do pick up the book, It is so very very good but an entirely different animal from the movie... not to mention the book's sequel "Castle in the Air")
