Description Oooh, that stung in the morning. And hey, chill out Garnet. You haven't even gotten to the "there is no way to make this sound alright" part.

Pearl, your future's aiming smack-dab for a knuckle sandwich, tread carefully!

Oh, but it's considered very bad court etiquette to punch the judge, even if the trial is a damn sham

This!  Isn't!  Court!  There is no trial here, just a childish Gem who doesn't know how to fight for herself, or deal with the fact that her greatest love gave herself up for a human and their child's life!

Punctuated! For! Emphasis!

It was a joke. Sorta. They're still mirroring the mock trials that Jasper was talking about, otherwise I wouldn't have had her talk about that stuff.

Aaanyway... the question here isn't "did Garnet set Rose Quartz up with Greg and thus take her away from Pearl?" it's what Amethyst posed a few pages ago, "Did you know she would die?!", that is: "did Garnet set up Rose Quartz up with Greg despite or even BECAUSE she knew that it would lead to Rose's death?"

Because we're talking murder/treason here, not relationship issues or the complex depths of Pearl's difficult and painful issues, which are interesting and fascinating in their own right. Even if they play a part, of course. But Amethyst is just as upset at the possibility that Garnet may have pretty much assassinated Rose.

First off, I apologize for potentially lashing out, I knew not that I was replied to by, or replying to the author of this work, good stuff btw.  Second,
keep in mind that when asked about Rose's "death," Rebecca Sugar herself replied with: "is she dead?" this implies that she may well be still alive, and conscious
inside her own son, sharing his experiences, and I, especially as a metaphysical man believe this to be true.

Me being the author should have no impact on your behavior. If you can't be civil in my comments sections I have exactly zero problems blocking you. I'll leave it at that warning this time, but mind your manners in the future because I'm not the only one who can get annoyed at that kind of behavior.

Well, in canon everyone seems to be mourning Rose as dead, so I'm working with the assumption that they just don't know whether she's gone forever or not (because Steven is the first of his kind), but believe her to be.

It's not just the possibility of Rose Quartz' being alive or dead, Pearl may not be taking Steven's feelings into consideration about having come to exist by his mother's sacrifice, and that irks me, I have a soft spot for children among other things.

True, but the beauty of Pearl's character - as well as every other character on the show, but Pearl's problems have so far been the most explored - is that she IS flawed. People have interpreted and presented strong evidence from her behavior that she has PTSD, probably from the war. There were no problems until there was the first hint that Homeworld might return, up until then she was only a perfectionist. Homeworld returning scared her and that's when the first cracks appeared. She's stressed and terrified and that makes her lose her better judgment - just like a real person. This does not excuse her behavior, but it explains it and shows what a great character she is. Not a person, a character. If she was actually perfect she'd be boring to watch, just like the original script mayor Dewey wrote in Historical Friction.

Further, judging by Peridot's comments in Back to the Barn, Pearl was made and possibly mind-programmed for the sole purpuse of being devoted to a higher ranking gem, maybe even made purposely to serve Rose Quartz. That means she didn't just lose the gem she loved, she lost her entire reason for existing. It's too simple and short-sighted to dismiss her behavior as "childish". Pearl has deep-seated and serious mental issues that she has as far as we've seen never been given any help to deal with, possibly because gem society don't recognize it and her friends thus have little to no experience or understanding for it either.

I don't ask for perfection in the characters of stories I follow, I never will, I'm merely concerned for Steven's sake, and I hope she'll mind that factor.  And I'm well aware of implications of Pearls being mindless, prettied-up service drones by design, but I'm also scared of what will happen to Pearl if she doesn't consider that, the fate that will befall her if he hurts his feelings, it'll be like Cry for Help all over again.

Storywise I doubt that they'll do a rehash in canon of what happened in Cry for Help, because the crewniverse are great storytellers and it would be silly to have Pearl learn the same lesson twice. And in everything that followed the Sardonyx debacle, culminating in Friend ship, it was obvious that she HAD understood how badly she screwed up and wanted to make amends and change.
Steven also has zero problems protesting when he thinks Pearl - or any of the gems - are wrong, and after Warp Tour they generally listen to him. When he insisted, Pearl didn't question him connecting to Lapis in his dreams, for example. The gems might not have listened at first about Peridot, but the second time when he stood his ground and had formulated his argument they did. Steven also has no problems telling Pearl her good sides and help her find her balance.

Anyway, as for what's going on in my story it's something completely different. It's about somebody the whole group has known and trusted for years and years - Steven his whole life - possibly having betrayed them. Anybody would be very, very upset about that.
