That's Slide Mountain in the background, though this one was taken from the base of the valley before I started snowshoeing up towards it.Related content

Great wideangle composition! It looks a bit artificial, however, as the sky is a bit darker than the ground. Well, that adds to the originality of this picture, i guess. Nice work!!

I love these type of fence shots, this one is superb. Aside from the fantastic scenery you really captured some nice touches. The snow on the fence, the crisp shadow on the snow, great sky... just an awesome awesome shot. +fav

Nice b&w shot, although it looks like that would have been a blue sky day (do you have a color version as well?).

Yes, when shooting digital I always shoot everything in color. The sky was quite strikingly blue, and I was tempted to leave it, though in the end I decided to not go the color route because I wanted to put more of a focus on the composition of the shot and the shadows on the mountain.

The sense of depth is just amazing. And I really like the shadows the fence is casting upon that pristine stretch of snow.

LOVELY angle here. Wow! Adds so much to the photo, the whole composition is wonderful. I took some winter-photos for myself too (posted one some days ago), but... well... i wasn't on the right place for a real GOOD photo (or i am simply not good enough *g*). Great.

Beautiful shot! I love the perspective, the way the fence goes off into the distance. I think that's the most immediately striking part of the picture.

This piece is exquisite.
I love the visual layering of perspective giving a real visual feast for the eyes to indulge in with a spectacular attention to both detail and texture, making the lashes of our eyes wish to brail read the very essence of the picture, everything is so touchable.
I love the crystal clear clarity of the colours as they stand so alarmingly delicious in a contrast so absolute that one cannot help yet stare for a while, think for a whileβ¦.dream a little for a while. Everything is so utterly distinctive.
I love the intricate shading grain of the posts and the way they seem to taper and lean, leading the perception down a marked out path, graciously static against the vast clean white of the snow.
I love the thrusting sporadic sprouts of undergrowth pushing up through the snow like a new religion.
The entire composition of this piece is highly commendableβ¦.and really makes the piece. I like the leading sense of layering form the flat clear snow to the first shoots of undergrowth thickening like thoughts into a forestry of texture before being graciously horizoned by that beautiful mountain with the final compliment of the clouds, so beautiful in their contrasting texture to everything else in the photo as they gather and disperse like some latent prophecy.
I really cannot fault this picture, even the bordering is just β¦-right-

I should never read other people's comments before I wrote mine. Because then all I can think is that everything has been said already. And it has.
Except for maybe one thing: I just really appreciate the fact that you can do so many differnt things so very well and aren't stuck on one an the same kind of thing. Nothing really to do with this image, but still...
