Description I had previously (long time ago) posted a different version of this, but this is the one I actually liked better and also the one I had up in an exhibition in New Jersey, so I decided I would replace it here.

The image itself is made from two photographs I took: a harvested corn field in western Michigan and an old TV set in my basement. The photo of the field was adjusted for contrast and levels, warped and 'TV lines' added, and then fit into the frame of the TV set image. It is meant as a visual follow-up of sorts to an old poem of mine, thought the image is meant to stand on its own. If any are interested in the poem, however, it can be found here [link]

That's really cool...I dig it. Could I possibly borrow that tv image for a site I'm doing? i would greatly appreciate it! Stay hip... - Katie

I think that'd be okay, all that I would ask would be to receive credit for the image and if possible a link to my website

How weird... I've never seen this movie and tonight.. I went to blockbuster with the man and we rented this out... didnt get the chance to see it yet.

He states he seen a few pieces of it and it was somewhat .. weird.
I need to see for myself.

Anyways .. the picture is quite original and it came out so nice!

very very original, great work, think "apocalypse" works well with this, its the kind of thing you think future generations will be watching "this is what the world used to look like, and this is how people saw it" kind of thing, very nostalgic feel, fantastic job indeed

really fantastic idea arthur. i really enjoy the picture youve put inside the tv. the tv itself hasa such great character and gets across your message so effectively. everything just fits nicely here in this image. great execution and communication.

It looks as if the television is hovering in midair. perhaps a black background wasn't the best of choices, or at least putting the tv onto something would clear that problem up. otherwise, the cornfield image is...just...saddening. dead. beautiful i guess? I've never seen anything like that.

very cool, im loving that old school tv, its mad..

just a point i dont really like the black bg, i think it would have looked a bit better witha realistic background, like on an old wood grain veneer cupboard with old cassettes piled up on the sides and an aerial on top..

i darno..

nice photo either way arthur

hey nice job... cool idea..

the grain was a nice touch, but i would like to see the image a bit softer (especially arouind the corners of the screen...maybe even with a little burning..try it out.. you may liek it that way)

good idea... nicely executed.. good job

This is interesting..
It reminds of another "tv" photograph I saw, last year... it wasn't a manip, at least not a digital one, and it was a social commentary on consumerism and stuff, I think.

I remember this one ... I like the old look and feel of the TV, generates a nice, generational gap/conflict. Also the withered corn field is in stark contrast with our service oriented economy where we seem to work on/for unexisting and untangible things.
