I've always, and i mean always, did i mention always? wanted to draw an Aztec warrior, or things in their mythology.When I finally got the chance, i was rather troubled, for one thing, I think we all know the key things that make them stand out from the rest of the culture, first and most of all the feather work.
So I know straight out that i need a good design of that, I'm more or less happy with it, but the thing that made me troubled was that, I was hoping to make him in my style, like, when someone see it, they dont see it as a historically correct replica, but something that obviously is aztec, but has a style to its own. I think the blade is something like that, but for his overall look, its pretty much no innovative ideas. @__@ just my 2 cents. Heres hoping i get more chances for such a theme.

Aztec,Inca,Maya,and Olmec, all of them have unbelievable artifacts, and artistic designs, Bas reliefs for example are just stunning. Heres to hoping you can get more of this kind of stuff to draw too, I'm sure it'll get even better ^^.

I really like the chibali, although as just a nitpicky thing the macuahuitl should have blades on both sides. Otherwise I think this piece looks awesome.

I'm a huge fan of your work, but I gotta ask... How in the world do you draw so much detail in one small space without going BLIND?! (thank goodness you do, but, still... @_@)

I love the concept of this, I really do. The earthly flow solidifies this piece and the simple, minor (but extremely important) details make it all the more Aztec origin. The sun carving on the necklace is one of those really nice little details along with the act of making him almost birdlike with the feathers and their placements. Of course, you give the concept it's own flavor of Anima. I like this a lot, Wen. Great Job!

Thanks!!! I thought that people did not take much account of Mesoamerican cultures. I LOVE your work in Anima, wich I've played for almost a year. You are one of my most respected artists, that you draw a character based on one of the most representative cultures of my country means a lot to me.

i'll be honest, this isn't your best. It seems a little cheezy for you somehow. Not that it isn't very well drawn, it is well drawn, but the concept could have been better i think

I think what makes things yours is all in the details. And here it does have a more historically based character but what makes it yours is in the details like the dangly on the blade and the double columns of feather work coming off the shield. Even the studs going along the flat plains of the eagle head coming over the skull is something that is very you in style.
