Description
My youngest son has been working on a report about pirhanas, his favorite fish. I had been working on a drawing of a shark mermaid, wanting to do a meaner, less prissy mer-chick than I usually do. While helping my son find pictures of pirhanas, I started doodling... She's an Amazon river red fin pirhana. My son was doing a report on them while I was sketching in the library one day... and I decided I was sick of drawing "nice" mermaids.

She's very cool. I like the slightly mroe dangerous, agressive stance and look she has. Even the jagged blending of scales and skin give the effect of being more than the normal mermaid.
It's very well done.

That's how it looks, under the Amazon River. There are these big sections of rainforest that are flooded every few months. I saw a special on TV about it (yeah, I'm adicted to Discovery Channel), and thought it was so totally cool... There were these photographs of dolfins swiming around trees, it looked like they were flying!
