Description In one of the versions of the King Arthur story, Merlin is beguiled by a fairy named Nimue, who puts him into an eternal sleep in a cave beneath a tree.

This painting went surprisingly well. I drew and underpainted her at the Yuma ArtBeat show, in about seven hours. I painted her at our Eberron game (yay for tabletopping!), which was about another six hours. I think I put another two hours or so into her tonight.

Many thanks to Faestock! [link]

awesome. =] I love the Bernard Cornwell's Arthurian legends, and... oh, dude... I think I became in love with her in the period when I was reading the first book's beginning... xD because she's awesome... or, like the american highschool people say, "so dreamy"...
xD
I'm still reading the first book, but she is not appearing so much (where I am: Derfel find Merlin in King Ban's library). And, according with the images that I searched here on DA, she became the lady of the lake? oO

(Sorry my bad english)

That's one scary fairy. Lol, that rhymes.

And nice detail. She's got evil intent in her eyes...

From what I heard, Nimue actually turns Merlin himself into stone (different variation, I suppose). Nice painting .

Ah Nimue, I know her all too well... An amazing representation of the betrayer of Merlin, great colour work, and I love the gentle sardonic look in her eyes.

Hmmm... while there are certainly aspects of this painting that work for me, overall it just doesn't "click," certainly not the way many of your other works do.

The hands and the flower headdress are gorgeous!

Great job. I like the way the steam from the cup looks. Very realistic. Yuma huh? I'm in Chandler. I would be afraid to work on my art anywhere but home.. I am very clumsy and would likely spill, drop, or ruin it in some other unimaginable way.

I gave up my art studio room to my oldest son many years ago, and haven't had a proper work space since. One of the things I love about watercolors is how easy they are to transport and clean up. I do lots of spilling and dropping (I'm hopelessly clumsy too) but haven't ruined any paintings yet.

I am so bad with watercolors, but really love the work I see. One day I hope to be a whiz with them. I'm going to Colorado in June. I think I will give traveling art a try then... no real hope of any of it being decent though... lol

I wish I could find more players in my area.

Very beautiful piece, the malice in her expression is definitely what hit me first.
