Description
Hello everyone! This is the reveal of the map for Asteria, the tidally locked planet that the Tauroh lived and are currently dying on. It is slightly larger than earth, but only by a quarter, and its gravitation pull is similarly increased. As a bit of an offset however, the atmosphere is more than half again as thick as ours.Currently the planet is undergoing a sort of ice age, as the continents are currently drifting around the terminus of the planet, allowing for a large amount of glaciers to exist-of course that has been worsened in recent years following the aftermath of a large-scale nuclear war. But still, I can show you guys the environments that make up Asteria. Do note though, that the colors you see here are more of less synonymous with how the planet looks. In other words, yes, "plant" life here is blue in color. This is because the red dwarf the planet orbits emits little high energy light, to the point where most plant life-especially ones located near the epicenter of the dayside-simply ignore the blue light in favor for the abundant lower energy light, such as red and green light.
Most of these biomes are pretty self explanatory, but I think I'll have to describe what humming meadows are. These are environments that are restricted to the darkside of the planet, particularly on the East-most side of that hemisphere, where the fairly warm humid air blows over to the dark side and make a small area that is empty of the kilometer-high glaciers. In these glacierless areas, kinetic autotrophs use the constant wind to help a biological form of piezoelectricity. They do this by having a dead part of their bodies vibrate at high frequencies, which causes them to make a constant humming sound. These ecosystems are fairly simple, possessing no tertiary trophic level and little biomass.
Also, you may notice that there are no deserts. This is not because this planet has none, it's really because I completely forgot to put them in.
Whoops!
EDIT: I also forgot to describe what the biomes right next to the glaciers are (the greyish blue one). That's pretty much tundra or "mammoth steppe", depending on where you are.

Cool, watch program did you use to create this. Looks interesting.

Thanks! It's not all that fancy though. I just drew the planet and marked the environment borders with a pencil, then I used gimp to color it accordingly.

Awesome map, I really like it. I would like to visit the Humming Meadows, they sound far out
Where would deserts occur anyway on a tidally locked planet?

Thanks! I would think deserts would be found in areas that got mountains that create rain shadows, such as the eastern-most continent.

Aren't winds different though?

I'm not sure if I know what you mean. But at least the way I have winds working on this planet, there's still a bit of a Coriolis Effect that causes winds to move to the West. And a big old mountain range on the East continent should stop a lot of warm moist air from passing onto the continent interior.

Cool! Looks great. Hope you'll make a political map at some point as well, perhaps showing the spread of the vermin that caused the nuclear winter.

Oh yeah, I definitely plan to make a political map, and I can definitely show the spread of the varadents and probably quite a bit more.
