The Monteverde Golden Toad4 hours in PS CS2 with a tablet.
One of many studies of animals and objects to come.
"Since 1989, not a single Bufo periglenes is reported to have been seen anywhere in the world, and it is classified by the IUCN as an extinct species. Its sudden extinction is cited as part of the decline in amphibian populations, which may be attributable to climate change brought on by global warming, a fungal epidemic specific to amphibians, or other factors, combined or acting independently."

This brings a hauntingly powerful lore o the past for animal lovers, especially if anyone has ever lived to actually see them...believed or true, it's extinct as we call it.
The golden toad...may we miss it. Amazing, super-accurate painting too. I hope it was created entirely from white to color even with the clear reference!

Though it's said to be extinct. I think there's a chance that a coulof these could still be alive in areas no one has been to before.
A lizard called the La Gomera Giant Lizard was said to be extinct until being found to still be alive in 1999 or 2000. So there's a possiblity maybe these could still be alive. Many creatures thought extinct have been discovered so much. I couldn't find it hard to believe this creature still alive.

I am from Costa Rica actually, and i've been in Monteverde, but now is not like a real cloud forest like before.

Wow, this is an amazing painting, it looks exactly like the ref! Sadly this little toad's story is being repeated for hundreds of species of frogs and toads, especially those from rainforest areas

I legitimately thought this was a photo. Only reason I questioned it was "where in the world did she get a photo of this toad??? and so close up too.." haha even after I clicked it, I was still convinced it was a photo OTL.
