Description
The creature is a collaborative 3rd generation effort between Tom and I: [link] . The third pair of legs are hidden in this image, but that's an oldschool idea now - what a difference 5 years makes!

Oh wow, there's something really unsettling about the way you've obscured the features here with the tentacle/hair...Reminds me of this short story I read once, probably by one of the Giants of Golden Age Sci-Fi, that opened with two characters aboard a spaceship examining this test subject in the ship's lab, a mouse or bunny or something. One guy is holding it and stroking it and saying, "Yeah, it looks pretty cute now, doesn't it? But imagine you checked on it again tomorrow and it had patches of fur where its eyes should be. Little green patches of fur." I found that line horrifying for some reason, and this one kicks me in the gut in the same way!
The character looks pretty smug here...She's showed that Anemokapi who's boss!

That's uncanny valley stuff, right there, applied to animals
I think the point that this has a fairly terrestrially-appropriate body, with an unidentifiable organ mass where the head should be, makes that same connection.
