Even without Photoshop you can still do neat stuff, like sketches and things that will help refine your style before you do coloring.

Ever experimented with any other (less expensive and easier to acquire) digital coloring program? Like the GIMP or OpenCanvas and the like?

Nah, I just got into drawing and my parents are really iffy on buying that kind of stuff. The only program I have is Paint. Sad, I know. But yeah, I guess I can just stick to sketching until my parents get over that fear.

Oh I see! It's great that you're into drawing now. I think... while waiting for Photoshop, maybe you'd like to try free programs you can download? Since you're on a PC, there'd be lots of freeware out there... I suggest the GIMP; I've heard it's very similar to Photoshop and can produce similar results. It's even got tons of tutorials here on DA: [link]

Or you can search "gimp tutorial". It'll give you the awesome ones straight up.

There's even someone who "hacked" the program so it looks more like Photoshop. I'm downloading the Mac version at the moment so I don't know how true that is, yet. [link]

it's both helpful and amazing! i didn't know that bit about the proportion of the eyes, it totally makes sense now, thanks! by the way the hands are incredible! i'm seriously thinking in printing this and copying them (for practice) i can't draw hands at all
