Sinestro. Man, that had never even occurred to me. Looking back, it feels like I should have known, but I didn't.

Yeah it looked like it was gonna be hal and then it became sinestro I kind of saw it comming because I remember in one of the pages in the book of oa involving the blackest night it had a picture of sinestro on it. X3

I know what you mean, looking back now, but I still would have expected Hal because it was kind of hinting towards him to, having exposure to so many different colors from the spectrum.

They were hinting at that pretty early on, yeah. It was obvious we were meant to assume that Hal would take the White. But looking back on it now, Sinestro's personal investment in all of this has become very clear ever since the aftermath of the Sinestro Corps War and the Rage of the Red Lanterns, as they delved more into his personal history with Abin Sur and his obsession with the Blackest Night prophecy.
Giving it to him may not have been obvious, but it doesn't feel contrived either. It's hard to write a twist without feeling forced.

Yeah, it should have been easier to see coming then it was, but the misdirection didn't make it feel cheap. And yeah, good twists are rare these days.
